    Greasing

I just rec'd my front suspension kit from Mainway. Great product with great customer service. Instructions are clear and written well. I should have ordered the kit for the rear suspension as well. The improvements and tinkering never ends. Jim

    iGrip track studs

Has anyone tried the screw in track studs from iGrip (www.igripstud.com/studs/snowmobile)? It seems to be a good idea for those wanting improved traction on ice without adding a set of conventional studs. This company had a booth at last year's Big East snowmobile show. Looked interesting...

    Reliabilty improvements

Now that the warm weather is upon us for the next several LONG months, time to prep the SW for next season. I have a 2018 LTX which has been a fantastic sled. I have had no problems but want to head off any reliability issues. Here is the list of reliability improvements I have in progress...

    Tunnel Dammage Due to Ice

Craigwsrx, Nice job!!! What thickness metal did you use? I made a similar plate which mounts on the bottom side of the tunnel. I incorporated the hose protectors in the plate. It was a royal pain to mock up and build. When I take the rear skid out for servicing, I'll post a few photos. I...

    Tunnel Dammage Due to Ice

The BOP protectors do help protect the rubber hoses from direct impact/cuts from ice but they do not protect the tunnel from damage. Another (more likely) failure mode of the rubber hoses is due to a large amount of bending of the tunnel right above the heat exchanger due to impact from large...

    Cleaning out chain case residue

I do the drain - flush - refill process to my chaincases after every long ride (1000 miles or longer) during the season. I use wd-40 as the solvent/cleaner. I like to keep the chaincase free of water and metal debris. At the end of every season I open the chaincase for inspection. Been using...

    Check under your fuse box...

Checked mine yesterday. No rubbing of the wires but I see how it could happen over time. I added a piece of rubber sheet over the plate beneath the wires for peace of mind. We should start a thread which lists all of the items to check and/or upgrade on these sleds. Certainly are a lot of...

    One piece aluminum oil tank

The stock oil tank design is a very poor design: the life blood of the engine depends on an RTV silicone seal. This was a major step backwards for reliability compared to the RX1/Apex oil tank. Has any of the aftermark fabricators thought of making a one piece welded aluminum oil tank? 1/8"...

Trying to decide which TD exhaust to get.

I went with the muffler and performance setup from Excell. Has a nice deep mellow sound, excellent quality assembly. Looking forward to the sound and improved performance next season!! Jim

Black & Blue to Back in Blue

Excellent news! Glad it worked out for you, glad the dealer did what is right for a customer. I am going to be installing the heavy duty parts as well. Jim

    Hauck easy oil change kit

Does anyone have experience with the Hauck easy change oil kit? Connecting a braided steel hose to the oil tank drain port so it can be routes out to a drain pan should work well. Jim

Exchanger coolant leak fixed - Fuel tank,Battery removal

Has anyone else experienced the coolant leak from this hose? Has anyone come up with a design for a cover/protector for this hose? The "off-season" gives us plenty of time to resolve this problem. Jim

How about a positive " I love my Sidewinder thread".

I only got to put on 500 miles on my 18 Sidewinder LTX before work once again to over my life but I LOVE the sled. I have only owned and ridden Yamaha sleds since 1990 and every model had some issue(s) that were worked out by the Yamaha community. I found that before every ride my "worry...
