Glad it worked for you! i tried that, along with welding a serious size bolt straight on the allens and i still couldnt get them to budge. It all depends on how badly they are seized up. I have about 2000 miles on my 03 and they were toast. good thinking tho
I'm glad i did it as well. Much better ride! Get a nice piece of C strip/window trim to finish off the tank cover where you cut it like the pic's above show. Its a nice finishing touch. Look in to a bigger sway bar if you or somebody you know does it. A lot of body roll with the higher seating...
Be careful with the 2 allen head screws that hold the head pipe to the tunnel. The heads strip way too easily. Soak them with some PB Blaster/Penetrator or heat them up. I put an allen wrench in that fit nice and tight, and as soon as i tried turning them, the heads stripped like butter. My sled...
swaybar is defenitley an important one! especially if you have an apex seat. Way too much body roll. I have to damn near hang off the side of the sled to make a decent turn without tipping! That will be the next thing i buy. ha
I would defenitley pull the jets out and use a fine wire off of a brush or something small enough to push the gunk out without damaging them. Even if you think they are clean, they most likely aren't! You said yourself it has never had them cleaned. I've had to clean mine twice within the past...
sounds about right. except i left my skid in. It probably would have been a hell of a lot easier with it out! I didn't even mess with the the flex pipe bolts. What a nightmare
Yea of course. They are getting to be a real pain in the a$$! It's my fault not storing it properly. I dumped about a grand into the sled 2 months ago just to have it run top notch and of course it acts up when i finally want to use it. Go figure! Its my last season riding before i take off for...
apex seat makes it feel like a totally different sled. The old seat felt more like a damn jetski to me! I'm glad i made the change. It was simple to do. not sure exactly how much higher right now, but i know its atleast 4+ inches. I plan on picking up a sway bar from pioneer performance also.
Pulled the carbs today.. They were all nasty already. My tank must really be full of crap. I will probably have to do a full clean out sometime soon. She runs like it should now! Thanks for the help
The exhaust donuts are usually going to be the first issue you are going to run into along with stripping the heads off the allen screws that you will need to loosen up! Cheap design. I'd soak the hell out of the with some PB Blaster or any penetrator if you before even messing with them. its...
