I wouldn't worry I have 2200 miles with mine closed up, lots of off trail use and plenty of WOT in the UP trying to keep up. I put the Freeride on and the last 400 miles have been like riding a different sled ;)!
I have 07 standard both holes blocked off, with fan update and I still have to stop 4-8 times a day to scrape off the heat exchanger. Sometimes you can hit some whoops or rock the sled from ski to ski to knock it out. I just installed a freeride(1.5") track and we will see how it does.
