Gypsy; Here's a copy of a post that helped me with the same problem. It makes sense and quess what; since I've stuck to 87 octane WINTER GAS never had a problem; huge difference from before; Extra cold here too so I went with beefed battery and synthetic. No problems at -40 RVP=Reid Vapor...

05 Vector never starts at -25 without heat

Did the change up to synthetic (don't know what was in there before as I just got the sled); went to a battery specialty shop and got Super Battery; didn't realize there were such huge differences in batteries and filled her up with Winter Gas.....waiting for the -30 to see

05 Vector never starts at -25 without heat

Big Jeff; That makes a whole lot of sense; the fuel I used was in gerry cans that I had got a month or month and half ago. I have used most of that up now and the fuel I will now get from Petro Canada up here is advertised as Winter Fuel. They must increase the RVP and that's why they advertise...

    Tank bag for the Vector

Tryed most bags over the years; even on the non rider forward sleds the front bags are a pain in some way or another; I realize you don't want to cover up an asthetically pleasing part of your sled but the back saddles are the way to go... you can also put it on and off easily and probably would...

05 Vector never starts at -25 without heat

Thanks guys; will try your suggestions; tried today -15; started right up; wonder why -25 is the magic number. By the way, first Yammy 4 stroke; 05 Vector ER, love the machine; is it correct that there was an update for clutch rattle?? This one definately has some noticable rattle; I see the...

05 Vector never starts at -25 without heat

I'm using Regular fuel; about 87 octane and no problem with the spinning over. I will try the half choke and let you guys know how that works. Could it be carb settings or jetting.. just wondering because at -20 and warmer it starts OK. Doesn't spin over any slower at -25; just doesn't fire...

05 Vector never starts at -25 without heat

Anybody give me their 2 cents worth about starting in cold weather; that is -25 or colder; have a good battery, chokes workin. Can crank and crank and no go......put a heater on it for 15 minutes and away it goes. Trouble is don't always have electricity or a heater. Must be some words of wisdom...

    Do I have this right??

I put a deposit on an 05 Vector. I understand that potentially upgrades and / or changes are; Monoshock, TOR, Clutch shim, grip warmers, jackshaft bearing, idler wheels and maybe a fuel shut off. Is this about it??? and which of these changes are pretty much across the board??? Appreciate...

    Need some quick information

I'm looking at an '05 Vector that was brought up to Canada from the States. The seller says that all the border stuff and inspection was done. Any differences from the Canadian models??? The seller doesn't know and I'd like to before I buy this thing; may make the difference.

RX changes made year to year

From all of this information it seems you either keep a close eye on oil level as they aren't all oil burners or stick a set of '05 rings in

RX changes made year to year

Great information Thanks to all of you for your input. Based on all of the information that you provided I am going to bite the bullet and spend an extra few bucks more than I originally planned and look at 05's and 06's. Again, what a great forum.

RX changes made year to year

Awesome information Fantastic information guys; really appreciate it. Got more information from here than after talking with the dealers. Anything else to be added still appreciated. Agree with LB on the FI. Any MAJOR problems related to fuel were with sleds with FI. ReX, you're just a...

RX changes made year to year

Year to year changes Thanks guys...I'm new to this forum but it appears to be one of the best. I've had Yammys since early 80's ( 14 so far) but new to the 4 stroke world, considering first purchase this year. I appreciate the info; really interested in change ups and the importance of what...

RX changes made year to year

Can anybody give me the Coles notes version on the major significant changes from '03 to '04 to '05 to '06 on the RX's. I've spoke with a couple of dealers and the way they make it sound it you gotta buy an 07 because the changes have been so significant. Really appreciate some info from the...
