    Adjustable Fuel Pressure regulator questions

There is a way to make them all accurate... Remove the case plug and remove all the liquid, leave the plug out of the gauge. If its not vented to atmosphere the heat and atmospheric pressure changes and it will be all out of whack. I have done this for years. I discovered inconsistencies years...

    Adjustable Fuel Pressure regulator questions

Then it would be out of whack for the guy thats running the hardware that supposed to be on the machine. For instance the tune was developed for use on the 2.5" trail muffler in normal situations. People need to understand that running hardware over and above the normal stuff the tunes were...

I run them at the factory gap of .024"-.025". I've had no misfires with them in many years at that gap. I've not seen a need for less gap that with less than 320-330 or so HP. In the old days with some sleds with weak ignitions it was needed, but I haven't seen misfires on the 998 yet, not sure...

    Adjustable Fuel Pressure regulator questions

The tune needs adjusted to run that 58 lbs of pressure. Going up in fuel pressure like Bob is doing adjusts for higher flowing mufflers and colder intake temps and more airflow. Keeping in mind he has parts on his machine that have improved airflow over the designed specifications. It's why I...

Myself I wouldn't be using that plastic hose even with clamps, but thats just me. I like the submersible rubber hose with a clamp that is going to hold the rubber decent. I'm not sure putting a clamp on that plastic is going to seal it up. Heating that plastic and expecting it hold the...

You can use whatever plug you want, but I use NGK CR9EK dual ground electrode plugs myself. They are dual ground electrode plugs and one step colder than stock plugs. If you can hear the pump working key on, but engine off, I suspect the pickups in the tank or the internal pressure hose to be...

Is it also possible the line from the pump is leaking internal? If I remember correctly I thought you used a shrink on hose? Perhaps thats leaking pressure? I always use the pumps from Hurricane and they come with a hose that can be submerged in gas and clamp that on using worm gear clamps...

Read the codes using the flasher. Do you have a fuel pump out of range code? Check the fuel pump plugins close to make sure they are not burned too.

DMC top gear wear (good things)

Agreed, I was replacing with the bronze bushings till I clearance them a little tight and they would spin inside the gear. I then started using the Hurricane roller gears and never looked back.

    Boostane

What kind of seal do they have on the cap? I found the seal on some of these cheap flasks don't seal well and leak, wonder if the plastic cap will be a problem too and leak or get eaten up depending on the plastic used. Have you used them yet in the trunk of the machine with Boostane in them...

    Larger intercooler?

    Sent you a PM.

    Larger intercooler?

No, I have machines running around with no added venting with the TAPP primary, XS belt and proper offset and have never blown a belt. I believe the belt and roller issues I had were all on account of the stock Yamaha primary, so I have no plans at this time to add any additional venting.

    Larger intercooler?

I run the Cat grill on my Winders too, it works much better than the Yamaha grill, does't hold near as much snow. Want even better cooling and airflow take the grill right off, it helps to cool better also, but of course you're risking damage to the cooler, so I run the Cat grill all the time...

    Larger intercooler?

Opened up the whole front bulkhead on my 17 behind the intercooler and added the frogskinz to the bulkhead, did nothing to help intake temps. Not going to do it on my 23 thats certain. Perhaps the frogskinz just killed the airflow enough to kill the flow? But you have to keep the snow out of the...

    Sidewinders over the years

Yes, the 17 LE rides awesome for sure. As much as I loved it, the 23 LE rides even better and the EPS of course makes it an even better sled. I did get a chance to put 60 miles on it this spring and It is softer than even the 17 was, I may have to run the rear shock on #2 I'm thinking. The 17...

    Larger intercooler?

They are a fair bit heavier for sure. The stock one is very light in comparison.

    Sidewinders over the years

Ya me too, I didn't like the blue at first after having the 17 LE in Red, but its grown on me and I now like it, the 23 production model LE also came with blue skis and of course the ever so nice Kashima coated QS3R's which was more important to me, also the taller riser vs the shorter SRX riser...

    Sidewinders over the years

Credit Yamaha with a photo of my new ride. Had a SRX on order but didnt come in till Feb of this spring, then I found out the LE came with the Kashima coated QS3R's back on the LE's and knew I had to have the LE instead. Sure wished it would snow so I could ride the dang thing, at least this way...

    Dalton Springs

Yes, I've heard that, but never seen it myself. Thats why I said a low mileage machine. I think some people must run them around a lot with the harmonics playing a part in the 4500-5000 RPM range when the harmonics are the worst for the primary clutch and breaking these springs. All springs...

    Dalton Springs

Those springs will treat you well yes, although I don't understand why you'd want to switch them out on a low mileage machine if its stock and working well.
