Hey, I can respect that. No sense in bad mouthing a product or company. I understand even high end stuff fails from time to time, I've experienced this many times. Life goes on just the same.
On both my Phazers I safety wired the nuts and wired the clamps to each other to stop the rotation when they eventually get loose on the donuts. I think next time around I'll use a piece of stainless strap under each nut to connect them together.
On my Phazer I went with a $32 pair of gauntlets for now as a quick, easy fix. For trail riding this has worked out great and I'm not sure I'll do anything different. I can wear thin driving gloves and stay plenty warm now. I also have better feel of the controls and switches. The wire in the...
I picked up a new set of OEM ball joints as I'm sure my old ones are too far gone at this point. I noticed on one side there's three arrows, possibly indicating the side that was pressed shut during manufacturing. I'll keep that in mind for future maintenance.
Do these joints wear out from lack...
That doesn't really surprise me. I absolutely love my Phazers for what they are and the entertainment value but they sure do suffer from poor choice of materials on several parts. I'm always looking for ways to preserve the components that can't be upgraded. But sometimes it's a lost cause, oh...
I'm curious if those Polaris boots would fit good. I saw those too but I didn't think they were quite the right dimensions. Who knows, could be a perfect fit.
The rubber ones I got were actually better than I was expecting. It took one hell of a stretch to get it over the joint and it didn't...
Good pics! That reminds me I need to swap over the inner tie rod ends to the ATV style this summer. I have them sitting in a box somewhere. I also bought rubber boots for the outers. Hoping to keep lube in and water out.
Welding the bearing holders could help. You'll need to see where the actual slop is though. The main problem I see with that design is that it only uses one bearing per side. Two bearings stacked would substantially reduce movement. That's how I designed my own steering fix using needle bearings...
I'd be all in on an electric sled. We just need the solid state battery tech to work out as they're predicting. Current battery tech just isn't there yet for energy density/range but we're slowly getting closer. No longer having heat and ice formation issues would be such a nice change. I'm sure...
On the Phazer will a fouled plug cause a check engine light due to a misfire? Curious as I've never fouled one... yet.
I kinda wonder if there's a mouse nest or something plugging up the air box causing a restriction to air flow.
I'm still waiting for my Phazer to suddenly spit me off into the trees. My last tree incident was 22 years ago on a ZR600. I was uninjured and the bent up a-arms still got me through the rest of the day somehow.
Looks like it might be possible to straighten it if there's no kinks. The grease...
You need to drain the oil from the tank, that's where nearly all the oil resides. Not a big deal and easy enough to remedy. You'll be back in business in no time.
That's really encouraging to hear the positive feedback from owners of this new EPS. I'm dreaming that they'll bring that system to other models in coming years. I currently get by fine without it but I sure feel wore out at the end of a day of spirited riding.
