I changed the gears on my '14 RTX from 24/50 to 21/41. The new bottom gear is drastically smaller that the stock bottom gear so it has less total length of chain wrap on it vs the stock gear and it does not sit as far down in the oil bath in the chain case due to its smaller radius as compared...

Steiner - thanks for the input. I am already looking at clutching, W-arm, front end bushings, bearings, reverse adjustment, sensors, relays, fuses, wiring, full exhaust inspection and doing a good general tear-down clean/inspection. I am sort of anal about my equipment and wont be happy with it...

I just purchased an '06 Apex with 9,480 miles on it. For the most part it is a clean sled with new carbides and new track with about 500 miles on it. I know the exhaust donuts are toast so they need to be replaced. I have no idea if the flex pipes, y-pipes or exhaust pipes are cracked or not...

Just bought the '06 so not going to sell for an '11+. Guess I will go the Barn of Parts mechanical power steering route.

anyone try the mechanical power steering kit from Barn of Parts on their Apex? if so, what are your impressions? I just bought my first Apex and would like to either try this kit or convert my '06 to EPS if possible. Is the EPS backward compatible?

I checked the parts diagrams for 2017 Vipers and Sidewinders and the chain case assemblies are the same. Hopefully BOP has what I need but if they don't I can get everything new from Babbits fir only $430 which includes shipping.

I guess I get to become a Viper mechanic expert after this endeavor. The only things I have not taken off the chassis so far is the front suspension, motor, and steering. Everything else has to come out to be able to get that fricken inner chain case cover out.

No. I just found out that the flange in the chain case behind the jack shaft bearing is broke out as well from about the 3 o'clock position to the 9 o'clock position so I guess I get to replace the inner case now to.

This one let go bad enough that when the ball bearings and carrier came out they caused a jamb up that broke the shaft the reverse gears are supported by in half. Don't know how that happened because there was no damage to any of the gears, chains or reverse actuator parts and the track never...

Since it is apart I am going to do the 17 bearings. Shaft and chain case internals.

Have a '14 RTX that just had the chain case bearing disinnigrate. I was told there is a Jack shaft and bearing upgrade kit but I can't find the part number. Anyone have the part number(s) I need?

If the Nytro valve works, this might be a good "Sticky" for others to search to help solve their problems. Contact Cannondale if it does work and he can get it set up on the "Sticky" section.
