It’s about business cases. For Yamaha to build their own 2s, they usually like to use it in multiple products. The same applies for Cat. It wouldn’t make sense for them to build a 4s engine when Yamaha is building them already. As much as we all like to banter about what we think they should do...
Agree that there will always be whine and cheese. But time proves a lot of the pooh poohing wrong. I’m not even sure who exactly or why one would look back and crow about having predicted a motorsports company's failure based on interpreting their product development cycles. We have no idea what...
Most, if not all, of the speculation online is BS. The companies clearly say "we're in this!" And have R&D and public outreach etc. Then some random guy on the internet projects and criticizes something using totally subjective reasoning about how it's not his vision playing out. Most of the...
Yamaha does put some of their own DNA in them, and for all we know, they are developed together. So we can speculate about what it means to us, but it is what it is. I am excited.
With price point, are warranties equal? I agree, the higher Yamaha prices are annoying.
Everything else is too small or too big or too weird. Most of us probably grew up on this class of sled. I have a fleet of ETs and ECs because they are so much goddamn fun. This segment was lacking. They will sell.
Jaret,
Thank you for engaging here. I am still kind of blinking. Looking forward to possibly learning a bit about how Yamaha views the business.
Insert gratuitous Chris Reid reference.
Insert gratuitous Bravo/Enticer reference.
A reboot of the Bravo or Enticer would sell like hot cakes up in Canada. Bravos still command big money - as much as new, 4000+ at times. Enticers are very hot too, especially clean ones.
I heard a rumor of a smaller 4 stroke but don’t know if it is for real.
I get that engine tech has come a long way, but working on old Enticers and then looking at how a Patriot (those names are so pretentious) motor is put together is a real head scratcher. How Polaris is able to sell so much substandard product is also baffling. But they keep dumping them out...
A couple of things:
1. I sort of wonder if the experiences with outboard motor emissions had any bearing on Yamaha's 4 stroke strategy. It's a long and complex subject, but what I gathered is that one of the death knells in the demise of OMC back in the day was their failure to get ahead of...
I have a 2018 VX Cruiser. Its engineering is as incredible as we should expect. Turns on rails. The TR-1 engine is the most advanced engine ever produced for a watercraft. Stainless impeller bushings etc.
I would buy Yamaha all day every day over sea doo.
What year and type? I can check the part number and tech update.
Edit; see your sig now. Looks like 4.7 x 16.4 but not sure if I am looking at the right part on the part diagram.
