Just putting this out there. Could it be the rev limiter. It really sounds like a miss fire. And if you gained horsepower and did some clutching it would be worth checking out. Also need the plugs gapped at .018
I agree with stain. Smaller rollers will also help with lower engagement and they grip the belt harder. But are more money than a spring. Start with spring then buy rollers.
Thanks for the inspiration kinger. I finally got this done and it is awesome, highly suggest doing this to anyone on the fence. My mod was on a Nytro and I did it a little different but the theory is the same.
The two things that I adjust is the main fuel and when the injectors kick on(the threshold) But in reality once set it does not need it, I just like to tune.
They are great. I put them on last year. My stock rollers were wearing out every 300 km and then I put these on and they show no signs of wear after 900 km
I also have a 4 wheel antistab on my skid so that I do not stab the track. As for the skid plate you would be better to by one off of barn of parts. A vendor on here as I don’t have any left I would have to make a few more and shipping time to the states would be crazy at this time of year.

Here is the thread about installing them on a Nytro. But it should be about the same for a apex. https://ty4stroke.com/threads/polaris-gripper-ski-installation-on-nytro.111952/
If you can get your hands on a set. As they are really popular. Put on a set of Polaris gripper skis. They are a amazing difference from the Yamaha ski. And also they add traction when you are trying to get your sled unstuck turning it around on a hill.
I wouldn’t worry much about snow ingestion all I did was put a 90 on muffler pointed down on a 45 deg angle and it works good. I welded a u bolt around my 90 turn down just for added protection in case track contacts it. I found no difference between the 180 turn and just the turn down. Also if...
