Anyone decide to rebuild shocks themselves

My point being is you can’t do any work on a shock with nitrogen in it, in order to service them it needs to be removed. You cannot operate a gas shock without nitrogen in them. So you cannot even revalve them on your own and not change the oil and nitrogen. So I am confused as to what you were...

Anyone decide to rebuild shocks themselves

You need to remove the nitrogen to take them apart. So at that point buy a quart of shock oil and finish the job yourself since you still need to set nitrogen pressure once you reassemble them.

    sled weights

Oh not saying that they are nose heavy based on them picking in same exact spot. Just saying in general the balance of the sleds are more nose heavy than other brands from a rider stand point. That just made it noticeable.

    sled weights

Correct, it’s an issue we know is there. It’s just inherited trait, and honestly I’ve felt just revising current chassis/bulkhead to address balance is 90% of what is needed. Also an se model could subtract 15-20lbs with non resivoir electronic shocks and non power steering.

    sled weights

Only thing that makes them feel that way is its balance. You can see from strapping points it is nose heavy. But it’s def the heaviest version of a trail sidewinder so I’m glad it’s finally pointed out that magazines are just bashing them on weight and destroying a brand and a whole motor line...

    2024 Prototypes and Spy Photos

Sure they will hold up. But do they not look and feel like the cheapest pos ever? Does it make it look better when it’s a pieces of round stock bent to shape and pounded flat to mount. Yes it’s replaceable. Sounds great but for how many times I’ve needed to replace any of that in my lifetime...

Anyone decide to rebuild shocks themselves

It’s not hard. But it’s also not worth the cost to do it yourself. The profit margin is marginal for sure, just let someone who owns the hundreds/thousands in specialty tools, aswell as making sure you have the right parts and do it properly, I build shocks for race cars for my brothers...

    2024 Prototypes and Spy Photos

Look at them, lots of cheap and poor build choices. Compare that to the other things out there and it makes you wonder. It will still have the best front suspension and a capable rear and probably better ergos, but lots is still subpar and really not a fan. Take the runningboards for instance...

I also own an 850 vr1 and handling isn’t as good as my sidewinder. I think it can be dialed out with springs and shocks, however it will loose the capability’s in the bumps and stutters. Sure the procross is old, but it has been revised a lot and front end is still best in the industry. Rear end...

    137 to 129

The drop brackets from tunnel are different. That’s the issue. Otherwise when I did my sled I would have just thrown 137 skid in but couldn’t do that either.

    137 to 129

No the rear scissors are mounted farther back on 137, I wanted to switch to 137 when I was changing rails and track. Part of why the 137 doesn’t transfer like it should imo. I was really wanting ice age to make me custom rails, 137 with 129 mounting locations. They said they were to backed up :(

After market trenchers a arms an a 2017-2021 sidewinder

Trenchers only makes mtn stuff. I’d ask over in that page as they would probably have an answer for you. Trail guys only run wide and wider and all run the stock trail front shock sizes. Mtn has 34-36-38-40 extended forward, taller spindles or stock spindles etc. way beyond what any of us would...

1" track for hard pack racing

Have 2 in double backer every other row in mine. Yea they wear worse than the triggers but they aren’t as bad as you would imagine. And after a horrific season and a half in upstate ny I think they did well. All 1.63” in 1.25 track

    Sidewinder or something different.

Assault all day. I have a sidewinder. I love it. And it’s perfect for what I do with trails and lakes. However yamaha has shot them selves in the foot and I’ve gotten the mrs a vr1 and I’ll be next, along with my father who’s been on nothing but Yamaha since 72. We love the 4 strokes we don’t...
