    Early dyno reports (850R)

My friend down south dumped his new 2023 vette, I guess they have issues. Ordered a new 2024 z06 and got to see it built. Beautiful car, but waaay too much tech to go wrong, spying, data collection, and no manual trans! I think a 69 427 man trans is about my speed...

Even worse, the speed was in KPH! lol! My old mach zs were faster. As were many srx's. And thundercats. Im happy with my stock sw. Smooth, 15mpg even playing a little, no real worries, only if the belt has 2000 miles on it. Best sled ever, for me. Shame Yamaha didnt continue.

Agreed! We need a Scotty Kilmer of snowmobiles....tell us trash talk...not how everything is rosy and the best ever. When last year was the best ever...lol!

We do usually get snow off Ontario into Old Forge so its rare to never be able to ride. They had 3 feet back during hunting season. It can change in a day. Nice mudholes too if the ground isnt frozen!! If Illinois is a sewer, NY is (politically) a septic tank.

I will say my 18 SE does sound like a diesel dump truck at idle! lol Our ski doo buddies seem to love it so I managed to dial the handling and ride in. I had a DX to compare to (a friends). But yeah, not sure what to do when shock time comes, but softer on mine is definately better and lots more...

I suppose one would need 2 sleds as sometimes after a fresh snow, or wind, we wind up breaking trail on our rural farmland trails, and with a winder, just let er rip, and use the power to get through. Seems like the doo would be out of juice shortly in those conditions. Not for me. But it would...

I respect ski doo. But like 'Initial quality reviews', which mean nothing unless you lease or trade every year, time will tell the story on longevity. The 998 has a very long, pretty reliable history. Rotax is a great manufacturer, but like many of the failures in new vehicles made anywhere...

And its worth remembering, when the bean counters at Polaris and Ski Doo ask the engineers 'WHY??' The honest reply has to be 'Yamaha made us do it'.

    Track tension

Interesting! I always felt how tight the track is at the bend in front where it rubs. Just some moderate pressure to push it off the slides. Then center the internal drive lugs with the idler wheels in back, after tightening the rear axle. Many sleds tightening the axle moves the track a little...

2006 Apex GT Help Separating The Exhaust pipes from Silencer Assembly

Once my big hammer was located, and the sacrificial block of wood, I tensioned the muffler with a ratchet strap and then proceeded to beat it like a racehorse. Once mad enough, it will come off!

    Time for a new track?

I took the rip 1 off my 06 apex when the 5th stud came out, and replaced with a rip 2. I was surprised how it would pull the front up breaking trail, as its more of a paddle design. It also appears to slide more around corners, which I like, as the lugs are tapered on the edges. But it isnt...

    Time for a new track?

Studs really seem to shorten the tracks life, but yeah, really need to look at them. Both of those doo tracks had many studs gone, so no surprise there. And batterys?? Dont need no stinkin new batterys! Until we do! And 50 buck chinese SumBigAmps or whatever brand, well, they are junk!!
