I like the painted side panels on the racer much more than the black on the consumer version. The contrasting colors make the sled look like it has a big beak. However, the painted side panels would likely scratch easily and then look worse than the black.
Maybe an all black scheme would...
I don't think they will ever do it. The apex, even with a mild turbo would be over 200HP. I think that would be enough HP, under good conditions, to get going fast enough to explode tracks. A factory sled capable of those speeds would leave Yamaha wide open to some nasty lawsuits.
If they...
Stumbled across this on ArcticChat. I believe you have to be logged in to see the pics, but it is a neat idea. Kinda tempted to try it for slide wear and an efficiency perspective.

Last Friday was my first trip to the mountains. We were up on the Pemberton ice cap. It is about half way between Whistler and Pemberton BC. Will definately NOT be my last trip for mountain riding. It's amazing. I have a lot to learn but a good tip is never stop with your sled pointed up...
The rear mount turbo Apex guys were having issues with the titanium flexible exhaust connector collasping. I believe they changed to the steel ones from the RX-1's and the problem went away.
The titanium didn't like the higher exhaust temps from having the turbo in the exhaust. The Phazer's...
The front of race sleds look like they would be production pieces. Might be a bit :brrr:, but I think I like the look.
Now add a 130HP EFI tripple and 500LB dry weight and I think you will have winner!

What defines reasonable profit?? There is no such thing in the free enterprise system. As far as corporations are concerned, there is never enough profit and if you don't make more profit than you did last year, you had better have a darn good reason for it. The big difference in US and...
Another similar thread from quite a while ago. Hope there is some useful info in it for you.....

If you are looking for "secret spots", make sure you guys get up to Climax too. My Mom always told me you should go through Love to get there though. Not sure if you guys would like Indian Head. I won't even mention Moose Jaw.......

How is the supercharger coupled to the crankshaft? Is there a belt? I also would wonder about the intake location sucking warm air through the radiator. I do like how it is pretty stealthy and looks really nice and clean. What are they doing for fuel management?
Any smart forced induction...
Awsome guys! Can't wait to see it on TV. Did they have the CPR sled there to do some really fast runs?? Looks like a great show for Yamaha and sledding in general.
 :yam:
Notice they got rid of the radiator to mount the hairdryer. If I remember, the Phazers only have a front heat exchanger. With no rad, I would think they will have to add some more cooling capacity in the tunnel???

BO4RE,
I don't own a turbo or supercharged sled, but I have read this forum with great intrest since it was created. The information you are asking for does not exist. Nobody have ever made back to back comparisons of turbo to turbo or turbo to supercharger. Many of the contributors on...
Sorry Monker, I have to disagree with you. The dyno was attached to the PTO shaft and measured the torque available there. Horsepower was then calculated by the dyno. On the graph, they plot the horsepower and torque along the same x-axis using ENGINE RPM. This means the torque has to be...
There is a fella in town that bought an Attak this year and put a 144 extension on it right away. I believe he went with a 1.5" track on it. I think he put the wide skis on as well. My neighbors rode with him up at the lake this winter after we got several feet of new snow. My neighbors both...
The 144 x 2 is a big track for the 500 to spin. Being a mountain sled, I would assume it is geared down as well. If you wanted that sled for trails as opposed to climbing steep grades, you could change the gearing and pick up some top end.
