They just wear out, and disappear, if you wait long enough to change them.
Even with grinding the clamps, they'll wear away again.
I've changed mine twice, then put in copper ones.
So far about 6000 km on the copper ones.
24000 km on the sled, and still on the 2nd belt!
Since you have the sled...
By putting single carbides on your sled, your wife will not enjoy it. She'll be stuck in everyone elses ruts, and will be fighting her steering all the time, every time she goes out.
In mho, snowtrackers will keep her on the straight and narrow.
Close calls? I really don't understand how she...
It happened to my RS Venture GT as well, with about 20 000 km on it.
I had a pro reweld every joint on that piece of pipe, as they all looked cracked.
2 200 more km on the freshly welded pipe, and so far so good.
You need to complete your info, so we know where you are from.
Royal Distributing has all kinds of bags, etc., for snowmobiles.
Here is a link to some bags they sell.
I think I'll get the backrest bag they have listed.

I put some nylon motorcycle saddlebags on mine. However, they aren't snowmobile bags, and had to be heavily modified to stand up to the abuse of cold weather and rough trails.
I only store cold weather gear in them, NOTHING real heavy.
I bought mine, years ago, at Princess Auto.
Good luck
I had a 2008 Venture, the motor went in the first year, and was going again in 2012, so I traded it on a GT.
Motorsports World in Ottawa just kept adjusting the carbs, to compensate for a defective engine! When I told them to keep the sled, because it was a POS, they actually figured out the...
I have a 2012 with 22500 kms on it. I use snow trackers, and there is no darting.
Power steering usually works, except on my week long adventures, where it ends up being parked outside, in -20 -30 temperatures. You'll have to drive it for 50 km before the module warms up enough for the power...
I had one of these.
My engine failed.
Cracked exhaust valve took out the head and guide.
It was real hard to start, and then wouldn't stay running.
Do " A LEAK DOWN TEST", at least that's what my crappy dealer called it. It monitors engine compression, to see if it holds compression.
I'm 5'6" and wish the seat was a bit longer. I don't know how you do it!
So, Yamaha's 2up sleds are designed for midgets that weigh 500 lbs!
If you don't back off the front shock in the rear suspension, you'll never steer it, unless you weigh 500 lbs!
My sled has been acting this way since brand new. Like I said, Yamaha won't help.
My Yamaha doesn't like spending the night outdoors, covered.
20000 km on it now, and never an issue, unless it's parked overnight outside.
It ALWAYS works otherwise.
My EPS indicator only comes on if the sled is parked outside overnight, even with a cover on the sled. Drive it for about an hour, and it warms up enough for the power steering to start working again. Yamahas excuse? It's corrosion! WTF!!! This sled has never been on a trailer, and it's always...
I've lived this problem, more than once with Yamaha, as have friends and relatives.
Yamaha sets the front shock in the rear suspension for a 500lb driver!
Raise the rear suspension off the ground.
Loosen the spring retaining nuts around the front shock of the rear suspension.
Back off these nuts...

Well. I was looking for a link to get just a shock, from a manufacturer.
I contacted Travis, and once the US/Cdn dollar is changed, shipping, duties, etc., it's actually cheaper to buy a brand new shock/spring assembly, from Yamaha, in Canada.
I need to get one new ski shock for a 2012 Yamaha Venture GT.
Dealers do not sell them separately, you have to buy a complete unit, $550.00!
Where can I buy just the shock?
Thanks, in advance.
Our group have tried many different types of communicators over the years.
Absolutely none of them work even close to what they claim.
They all work better on NON-YAMAHA sleds!
Yamaha puts out electrical noise, which severely hampers the signals.
Not sure what the cure for that is!
Good luck
