Those actually work. Make sure you get it tight enough so you have adjustment both ways. Just carry a 13mm gear wrench with you and it is an easy adjustment. I left 1 stock strap in the right side at full length for a safety strap.

How did it effect handling? was it reduced steering effort also? Did it change the attack angle to be more like an XTX?

Huh. I was debating whether to remove the heating pad from my stock seat, or use aftermarket pad with the factory wiring on my new mountain seat.

I would not be afraid of parts. What really do you need? The aftermarket has all the consumable parts you will need.
