Trail Tank - Yes or No ???

I don't have a strong opinion on this but you could try Mountain Addiction or one of the other slide-on tank/bracket systems that mount on the tunnel. This works fine for me. I only carry the extra tanks when I go out for an extra long day. The price seems reasonable.

How can I make my XTX "more" mountain worthy?

Your stock running boards will really accumulate a lot of snow build-up. You should look into adding Better Boards, Snow Eliminators, or one of the other good products out there. They are all relatively affordable and they really make a huge difference.

    American Snowmobiler article

The Spring issue of American Snowmobiler has a decent write-up called "Pounding the Powder". They test the usual suspects in the 800 mountain class but threw in a Nytro MTX in order to have all of the manufacturers represented. Stock MTX held its own - even placed second in their Hill...

Anyone try "track rack" by mountain addiction

I have one and it's worked well for me. You can attach bags, chainsaw... to the rack mounts when you don't need to carry extra fuel. The fuel cells are secure and they don't move around. It is easy to install. The extra fuel should get you through a long day with no problem. Some...

    Questions about the fan

My 08 MTX has been overheating a few times during the early part of the day. I understand that low/hard snow conditions may be a large factor. However, I it occurred to me that I have never heard the fan running. Questions: - How loud is the fan - should I be able to hear it while...

Updated - $ per pound weight savings list.

I have cut about 78 lbs off of my 2008 Nytro MTX. A while ago someone asked me what the cost of my weight reductions were on a dollar per pound basis. I hadn’t really thought of it that way so I went home and figured it out. Some of the results kind of surprised me. I ended up putting...

    Reverse or no reverse ?

I like having reverse. It adds a bit of weight, but to me the upsides are greater than the downsides.

How are those new 2010 Maverick tracks holding UP?

I have an 08 Nytro MTX that originally came with one of those lame Maverick tracks. It has now been replaced by a Challenger Extreme. Questions for those of you who bought one of the 2010 models that come with the improved Maverick: - Are the lugs staying up or do they lay down and stay...

    What's my sled realistically worth?

Stock. If I were looking to buy your sled I would probably look into what it would cost to buy a new one at the current price and then add the cost of the mods. Then I would discount it some since yours is used. Not saying that this is right, but it's how I would value your sled if I was...

    What's my sled realistically worth?

For comparison - You can buy a new 2009 in my area for $7,600 (greater Seattle area). Hope that helps a bit.

Cost per pound weight savings list

This weekend a new owner of a stock 2009 Nytro MTX was asking me about the changes I have made to my sled (2008 40th Anniversary). He wanted to know the cost of my weight reductions on a dollar per pound basis. I hadn’t really thought of it that way so I went home and figured it out. Some...

best slip on for mtx se

Skinz SuperQ and UltraQ weigh 7.5 lbs less than stock. Both give a bit of a boost in horse power - 3 or 4 hp increase. SuperQ is a louder and has a much deeper sound. This is what I have. From what I have heard the UltraQ sounds about the same as stock. I bought mine from...

true weight of mtx se 153??

You are probably right about the Snow Eliminators - the garage weight may be the same. Perhaps even a slight bit more. However, I think that new boards, whatever the brand, definitely reduce the running weight of the sled - I always had a lot of snow build up with the stock setup. In...
