rob, you will be good from pine bluff, there is an expansion crack from burnt island into helmer bay, watch for that. There was open water in spots I had never seen in 30 years on both lakes, but they are freezing up now.
Ride safe
Did just about 300 miles this past weekend trails were actually not bad considering, I would give them a 7 out of 10 overall. They did get bumpy late in day Saturday but had snow on them. Left home in Marquette to Autrain was thin but got better the farther east and north, wet, ore, melstrand...
A few shots of the snow conditions and trail conditions between Seney and Grand Marais and from my home in Marquette and summer place in Curtis. This was Saturday, December 14.
Trail update: I rode yesterday from my place in Curtis, thru Seney to Grand Marais to Christmas via shingleton, wetmore etc.. and back to Curtis via Seney and a couple lakes etc...and the trails were almost perfect. Once in a while I took some local short cuts I know and it was great riding on...
Gwinn crew, unfortunately I am not going to make the ride today. I had to chopper downstate Thursday and the plan was to fly back last evening but weather screwed our plans up. I am sitting in a hanger in Lansing getting ready to fly back to Marquette but there is no way I can get home, get...
We are getting hit today with some good snow in the Marquette/Gwinn area. Could get 9-12 inches of fresh snow today. Been snowing since 5 am. Will be great conditions for riding this week.
I agree with all the above comments, I have one that is a 1989 model and it still runs like a champ and throws snow farther than any blower I have seen or used. Continues to start on the first pull every time, all the time.
I was in Calumet today for work and the snow is there and still coming down, looks like mid season already. Conditions should be good to go this weekend!
Tom, I had a riot on Saturday with the group!!! Thanks for letting me tag along. It was nice to meet a few more TYers. That one portion of trail we were on north of Republic was the best trail I have been on all year. It was post card perfect. Thanks again for this great site and what...
'For those coming up for the Gwinn ride it has been snowing in the Marquette and Gwinn area since I last gave a weather update on Monday. Schools are closed today in the Marquette and Gwinn area. It is nice and cold too. That should make your time travelling north go by a little faster...
4strokeluvr111, you are correct. Good catch. I remember now that the GT model is the 1049 cc with fuel injection. With that said I would go for the 05 with less miles. Thanks
Weather Update: It has been snowing a little bit all day today and we are supposed to get snow each day thru Thursday with cold temps. I think it is shaping up to be a good weekend weather wise for the Marquette/Gwinn area. Safe travels to all heading north.
I think the big difference is that the 2009 would have electronic fuel injection if memory serves me correct??? I had an 05 RS Venture and put over 20,000 miles on it. Great sled. I upgraded to an 11 RS Venture GT in the fall of 2010 and put over 15,000 miles on it before I traded that in...
You would be better off just trailering over to Wetmore/Munising in the morning. About 30 miles from Seney. I have ridden from Curtis and Seney several times to meet up for a TY ride. don't get me wrong, I love to put miles on a sled with the best of them BUT at the end of the day when you want...
My daughter and I took a short ride yesterday from Marquette to Christmas on trail 417 to check out conditions. We stopped at Lankenland on the way and took the attached picture to show conditions. Trails had not been groomed yet, but were smooth with some bare ice spots and a few rocks...
I took first ride of season today near Marquette and about 20 miles out I got the same code. I turned around and headed home and when I shut sled off it would not start. I found this thread just now and when I checked I found my sensor was unhooked just like described on here. I hooked it...
