Ya I bet you guys value the block heaters up there. If you want an e-copy of the manual you can get it here https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/motorsports/owners-manuals
I actually built it. The runners are two 2x6" laminated together. Cross bracing using old fence lumber. Lashing "mostly" according to the way that the Canadian Rangers in the CF build them. I used old rink boards from a municipal hockey arena for the sliders. 1" steel tube for the yoke.

Yes - I mean going at a hill too sharply off of a 90 degree direction. I have put my VK on its side a few times by doing that. Its just a bit of work to right the machine - - may lose a bit of oil into the air breather too. I think there are baffles in the oil tank to prevent too much loss - -...
Good call on the battery. It would have been a great enhancement if the Yamaha engineers had designed a back-up pull cord start for this machine. At least the boosting location is convenient on the right inside area of the engine compartment. The battery is tucked in under the air breather and...
Congrats Chateaupitsie. I don't think you will be disappointed with that decision. Good luck.
PS - Forgot to mention that it is also a very comfortable sled to ride - great windshield. You will like the warm storage under the hinged seat.
I have a 2016 and have not had any tunnel icing issues. As mentioned elsewhere in this forum the VK2 is a monster - big, powerful sled with lots of power and decent fuel economy. Downside it is heavy, very heavy. When it is stuck you need to shovel and be patient. On lakes, level trails, or off...
Thanks YukonMP and Phatboyc. I appreciate the advice. Yes, I missed the point about the sticker. It's actually the branch crest of the Canadian Forces Military Engineers. I'm a Reservist in the CF.
I'll check on the sticker. I recall the unit manufacture date was Aug. 2015. I picked it up in Nov 2015.
Yes i do enjoy the power of that Genesis engine. The machine flys and is great on fuel. It will pull anything. I was out this past weekend north of Parry Sound, south of Britt, ON. Weather...
Good tip about shifting gears. Thanks. As far as fuel goes, I used 18 L in 3.5 hours. That was in backcountry riding involving a mix of terrain including some short steep hills with a passenger. According to the owner's manual the engine break in period is 800 km. It will be interesting to see...
Hi there - some have asked about this new sled. I was finally able to take it out. The machine is extremely powerful and great in deep snow. I put over 100 kms on backcountry trails and no issues with getting stuck. Snow depth ranged from 2-3 feet. I also had a 200 lb passenger on throughout the...
Hi Gents - I had promised pics of my VK. See attached. There is a lot of junk in the background (sorry) but it will give you an idea of what the machine looks like. Merry Christmas.
You often get what you pay for and if its a Yamaha accessory that will be used frequently then likley work the extra $. I am planning on using a 115L Sealine dry bag with shoulder harness for use in the backcountry. Won't look as nice as the Yamaha box and will have to be secured with cam buckle...
Nice looking box but for $290 seems excessively priced. I am looking for one for my 2016 also and will share what I find. As for the hitch, the stock version looks a little light but is rated for a decent pull such as the Equinox, Pelican, etc.
