I did it day 2 of owning the sled. Plastics, tunnel, and the skid. It held up for several seasons. I did just the plastics last season (skid was a lot of work), looks like new again.
@ 10psi of boost and running at 8500 rpm, the 998 is pulling air in at about 75MPH. That is what it takes to keep the engine fed with sufficient airflow. If the intake were already ideal, thats also the speed you would have to overcome to have the ram air intake have any (theoretical)...
Quebec pays their groomers on their popular trails, this is a bigger deal than it sounds as it opens the door for insurance and other benefits., Their trails are much better because they get a LOT MORE snow. They have separate, maintained trails in popular places for snowmobiles and ORVs...
Its becoming less predictable. I too use USPS as often as possible but just prior to the strike I had two packages held up, both for tariffs and duties. Prior to this fall I would never get dinged for USPS deliveries.
That's a service called 'my US address'. Basically a drop box for shipments, product still would be imported. If either can ship to you from US then maybe you don't get the extra hit or they absorbed it somehow. Ahh, and that myusaddress company is right next to a shipping broker, nice...
I just bought a set of headlights for my robot lawnmower. $113.00 CAD shipped, I payed and extra $86.00 in duties, brokerage, and additional taxes. Buy local if you can. I also found out you can fight the duties because the shippers are too lazy to figure out the right tax classification...
Apparently there is an entire market for electronic exhaust enhancements. One example: https://ixsound.eu/
But a quick look shows that every vehicle manufacturer has an electronic exhaust system for one reason or another on one or more vehicles in their product line.
The thing I value the...
I think it is hilarious that Yamaha thinks a couple of generations of consumers are so fixated on the sound of an ICE power plant that they would want a fake engine/air pump as a replacement. YikeS.. This is likely a placeholder patent just for CYA in case it turns out to be needed.
It adds ice minimally until it is making boost. My point was that it will still ride like a stock 850 when it runs out of ice, they have a sensor for that.
I wouldn't read too much into that. The sensors get fouled quickly when measuring a 2-stroke. The data shows it is running lean at mid-range and rich at WOT, which matches with Dave's comment that he is running overly rich at WOT for safety. Basically rollin' coal at those numbers, wouldn't...
It will be a rocket for as long as it lasts. Dave is likely focused on the guy who hangs out in the shallow end of the lake, looking for suckers. It will play well to the blip-blip crowd. I personally cannot imagine the angst of knowing 'this could be it' every time you mash the fun button...
