Remember, the 2006-2007 gas tanks have larger capacity than the 2008-2010 based on them putting a plastic liner inside the tank for emissions. I ran 2006 gas tanks on my 2008 Apexes fit perfectly and I gained a gallon+ of fuel doing this. Has anyone cross referenced the part numbers of the tank...
I have about 1300 miles on our 11's standard Apex's. The power steering is amazing. I have pretty much gotten the sled dialed in. I have Ohlins up front so needed to adjust them, plus I have the 13mm sway bar added. Shimmed skis. One hole up on the limiter. One to two clicks harder on rebound up...
Anyone have a picture of wide verses narrow? I have never heard of this. I ran 06 and 08 apex's along with my 11's and they all look the same for width to me. Every slide I have put on comes from Yamaha so I would assume they are correct as well. I have seen the sled in question here and it is...
Exactly what our two 11's do. As we discussed, if you prime the fuel pump "three" times the problem goes away. However, this is unacceptable to me. I do it obviously, my Dealer told me that he "registered" our two vin's with Yamaha. Yamaha needs to see your video.
I shimmed my skis on both our 11's and the darting improved significantly. In the end, an aggresive keel and hard pack snow with tracks a sled will dart. The shimmed skis improved it though by 50-75 percent. I run 8 inch Shaper Bars by Stud boy. Wife has liked the 9 inch duece bars by Stud boy...
Well, up to about 850 miles on the 11' 128 standard issue Apex.
After feeling about 90 percent for turning sharpness after the Holiday's did some tuning. I have put the 08 Ohlin's on the front so here is the report.
In stock form, the sled seemed to have a fair amount of body roll. This...
My friend has a 07 bought new in 2010 with the extended warranty. He has about 2100 miles on it and stated that he has heard some occasional backfires while riding. Are the exhaust donuts and labor covered under his 4 year warranty? This is his second season on the warranty so wondering if he...
Contact your dealer and give them your VIN to register the problem. My dealer said that when he called Yamaha they stated that they were aware of the problem but that it was not showing on all Apex's. Both of our 11's have a cold start issue with stalling. If you cycle the pump for sure two...
I used washers and red loctite. There are no threads showing now. as mentioned, the nut is basically to deep to fully thread the bolt with the 5mm of washers but I did that anyhow and used the red loctite. I checked after 300 miles and they look just fine. To drop the rear skid is pretty easy...
Re: ice scratcher
That is interesting. Post a picture of what you have done and what position on the ski works best with your testing. I wonder how long it would last.
I used 5mm worth of thick washers. You drop the rear of the skid down, then you remove the 12mm I think or 10mm nuts that hold the brackets that the rail is attached to. then insert the 5mm washers between. There is not much for thread length left to the bolts though so I used red loctite. That...
I have 530 miles on one and 435 on another base 11 Apex. At 200 miles did the 5mm washer ship on the tunnel protector mounts. I had not problems before the shim and I looked again with the shims and see not scratches. So, so far so good. 152 up the middle 1.325's.
I forgot about these ice scratchers. Who has the part number for them? I think recall it came out last year maybe at Yamaha Canada. I would like to get a set.
Yes, increased preload on the Ohlin spring. compressed them three threads. They were seated at basically nearly loose. How many threads did you tighten on yours to notice the difference?
Frosty, similar issues with my two base Apex's. The seats believe it or not lose there slipperyness after the first 200 miles. My wife and I both noticed this. The first two rides were like riding a greased seat.
I messed around with the weight transfer rod on the Mono to try and improve...
I don't know either why the snow flap is nearly horizontal. I got so much grief from friends following that I have installed the snowflap cables on my wifes and mine to keep it in place see pic. Did this on my 08's Apexes as well. On my 08 Nytro's it would go nearly horizontal with snow build up.
Thanks Turk.... I will set the weight transfer rod back to center line and pull up one strap hole. Now I need to wait for snow again up in Northern WI!!
