Update- I shimmed wastegate actuator .110 inch (2 washers I had) crack pressure now at 9.5psi. Ecotrail tune settled into 14psi like before. Max spool 20 tune made 19.7 to 20.3 (very short passes). Still no spike at the beginning of the run like I hear others say they see. AFR and fuel...
Back with an update. I bought another new “mightyvac” brand pump to back up results of my testing with my old matco pump.
I’m still seeing 7psi crack pressure.
7psi- wastegate arm moves .005 inch. So I’m considering that to be “cracked”
I take it up to 9psi, wastegate arm moves...
I quoted you based on you laughing at the 199$ price tag, which is a fact, That’s all. Didn’t mean to offend you. Really worthy of a “GFY”? No mouth here pal. Sorry you feel that way. Don’t judge a book by its cover they say…
So you need to log AFR to adjust your clutching and setup for the bar racing you wanna do? I mean you’re already trusting the tune by not running a closed loop setup. And you cheaped out on a fuel regulator setup so even if your AFR is off, you can’t adjust for it.
I guess the 199$ option you...
As I said in my original post I don’t care how you want to tune your sled. Do as you please. But I also realize your position. And your position in this is not to post prices on things you obviously don’t know the cost of.
Not starting another drama fight. But quit spreading false information. Data logging is 199$ on TD’s website if you already have a flasher. It hooks to my phone, I turn it on, throw it in my goggle bag, make a blast, and look at the data on my phone. Tune your sled however you’d like but...
Thanks for doing so! I haven’t messed with it lately, once we see some snow fly I’ll get back to tinkering on it. Gonna test crack pressure with another gauge or 2 to verify my numbers are accurate. I will report back whenever I get around to doing so
Would be nice if someone had a sled from the earlier years sitting next to a brand new one and could tested both with the same tester.
Or even if anyone has a wastegate from an earlier sidewinder sitting on the self id buy just to test against mine.
That’s actually the only performance setup difference between the 2 sleds. The Cat has a stock intercooler on it, my SRX has a TurboR cooler. Seeing the exact same issue on both sleds. So the problems not there. Thanks for your input tho
TD’s Super quiet 3” and under hood “cold” air intake. Last spring I took the side cover and muffler off and made blast up the yard, no change in boost.
What year sled have you tested at 9lbs? Reason I ask is this issue is actually happening on my buddies thundercat that I installed the...
Yep, I cut the spacers down half the thickness they started. all know boost leak issues that I’ve ever read about have been addressed. I’m not a big poster on here, but a non stop reader. I’ve tested it up 25psi a handful of times last winter.
I’ve search all over and seen the few threads on this topic but no definitive answers. What should the factory wastegate crack pressure be? I’ve seen answers from 6-7 psi up to 10psi. I understand that everyone’s tools for testing can vary, but I also starting to wonder if the springs are...
Everything’s factory waste gate wise
It’s a turbosmart blowoff valve. The spike to 24psi is at the end of the pull, for less then 2 tenths of a second. I will post log soon
I have TD’s piping as well. I’m gonna do another boost leak test up to 25psi tonight since i have put 900 miles on since I did it last. When you say you see a spike is that when you first take off then it settles to 20. Or when you let off on a hard pull it spikes at the end? I just see a...
What are you guys seeing for boost on MS 20? I’m running fuel pump, SQ 3 inch, closed loop. I haven’t been on a lake this year to do a super long pull but on a trail pull to 110mph the highest I’ve logged is 19.4psi. No boost leaks last time check (gonna check tonight again) , TB clamp...
Finally got a free second to build you a 1st grader level project of what I mean by “capping” off air flow. Just imagine the entire toilet paper roll (end of intake piping) being inside of the filter, the capped end will keep air from being “rammed” in. But sides being all open allow air to be...
I personally really like the idea and look behind this setup @KnappAttack played with. The issue he talked about was the “ram air” affect raising boost levels and leaning AFR out beyond his liking. I’ve had two thoughts on this. One, would the closed loop system compensate for that? Idk if...
