Hi tks that's what I thought. The mechanic I visited has worked on my other machines, makes me wonder. I pulled off the air breather box and noticed oil from a breather tube on the bottom of the box. My other RX has no sign of oil, is this normal?

Tks official yes but not as comprehensive as it should be. I'll search for a better reference, one that can actually assist with removing the cover. Some say it will come out without removing anything, others mention gas tank,steering column removal

Tks for the reply. I'm just confused how the " detailed" service manual could overlook steps when removing. One would think mention of other work would be required, this is an official Yamaha manual.

Hi All. Purchased an 2003 RX1 recently was running great , however now has a oil leak somewhere. The burning oil is coming from underneath the handle bar location. Thought maybe a valve cover gasket? Any ideas ?

When removing the coils, noticed someone had wrapped black electrical tape around 3 of them. Removed tape and rubber collars. Put them back in the sled, observed spark tracking. New coils on order!

Warmed up to - 11 decided to give it a shot. All coils on the primary read 2.1ohms, secondary. 5.0 each coil. Are these within spec?
