A couple of questions about the tunnel cooler. I have been admiring it ever since I saw it on Heath's sled last year.
It looks like you have Timbersled drop brackets. Was there any problem with them being in the way?
How far from the very rear of the tunnel is the cooler? It would be nice...
I looked at the snow eliminators because they were slightly less expensive. I went with JT because from the pictures it looked like they had more material going up the side of the tunnel for support and because of the replacable cleats.
I just got done installing some JT sports Running Board inserts on my Nytro and the wife's M8. I ordered a set for me initially and after receiving them I was so impressed that I ordered some for the wife.
They use replacable traction cleats so if they should happen to crack like some others...
I wouldn't remove the blue air flow disruption mechanism I have heard it raises horsepower by a minimum of 30 and track speed by 20 while climbing. ;)!
I received one of the very first fuel controllers from MPI. They have worked very hard on this project. In typical MPI fashion they have designed a well thought out system that installs very easily. I have had a hit and miss experience with the GEMS with idle and starting issues, along with...
I'm glad you guys enjoyed yourselves. The snow wasn't the greatest but we made the best of it.
Glad you figured out what was up with the Cat and that it was nothing major. I will let you know when the big storm blows in.
I am sure there are diferring opinions but I prefer to be aroung 13.0-13.5 while cruising. Any potential for lower fuel economy is more than offset by my desire to not rebuild my motor.
My appologies I was missing some posts when I responded, therefore, I did not see your numbers.
I see the green, green/blue, and red/blue all still had room to add more fuel in the range you are saying is too lean. So the Gems did have the ability to add more fuel didn't it? It would appear...
This was part of the point I was attempting to make. You cannot run at 16:1 and expect things to last. That is to lean for a naturally asperated sled much less a boosted one. At 16:1 it is a matter of when something will go wrong not if. Regardless of cause if you see 16:1 you should not run hte...
GSXR, THERE IS NO NEED TO YELL AT ME!!!!!
For the fifth time I would ask what your GEMS settings were.
I don't know what your issue is or why your sled burned down. No matter the reason it sucks, these motors are expensive. Having said that....
I do not agree with your assertion that...
According to the boost/octane calcualtor stickied in this forum section you can run 11 pounds of boost at 1500 feet with 91 octane fuel if your compression ratio is 10:1.
Having said that DO NOT take my word for it. Use the calculator yourself and make your own decision.
