Are you sure you can even check the pressure. I heard its impossible to check accurately, The volume of gas in those shocks is so small that a little bit of charge volume needed to re-pressurize your hose and gauge set can alter the pressure significantly.

With the aluminizing you might want to shoot the parts with a clear coat because its very porus/rough and will have a tendancy to hold the dirt, If your looking for just performance and not astetics it will be fine. Clear coat will act as a sealer to make it easier to keep clean. Great idea...

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Yamaha is giving you the additional 2 years of the warranty through YES (Yamaha Extended Service) Not giving you 3 plus 2. Hence the dollar value associated with it. Thats how the older three year warranties worked in the past.

Based on what I've seen 80% Japan & 20% at your dealer. Yamaha sticks the dealers with about 6 Boxes of parts, 7 mixed bags with about 20 nuts and bolts each and a 20 page assembly manual. I guess you could say the final assembly point is at your dealer. LOL

I have them on my RTX. They're cheap insurance for stonechips and scratches. They do clip on but they also use a Stainless Steel worm gear clamp to hold them at the base of the shock. I wouldn't be too concearned about someone ripping them off.

Are you sure the Stock RTX & ER sring is 44.4N/mm. The service manual shows it at 58.8N/mm 6.0kg/mm for the RTX and ER?
