Went to start 17 winder and it didn’t start so I turned the key off to try another start cycle, but the starter kept running, key was turned to off with no effect, hit kill switch with no effect, ended up having to unhooked battery in a quick hurry. After the fact I should have dropped the left...
Not original owner, no clue if engine was ever turned backwards. Are you thinking that the timing is off based on it being hard to start? I hoping the hard starting was due to starter issues. Will know more once new parts arrive
Large tube from airbox, hard starting may indicate valves need adjusting, trying to wait out season. I know not to turn engine backwards, runs great once running
I also found the rear tube/hose that attaches to the back side of the turbo was loose, tightened it and was wondering if this was the cause of the hard starting issues or was causing a lower then normal idle rpm’s
Update, started hard, once warm it stalled. Went to restart and it was making a grinding noise. Removed starter and it was locked up and the o-ring nose on starter had broken off Removed stator cover and found the idler gear had some teeth ground off. Have a new idler gear and starter on order...
So your right on what the prior owner was saying, Guy I bought from was saying the valves will need to be adjusted, hoping to ride still and adj valves when season is done.
Im thinking battery is fading so I’m picking up new one today. Thanks a lot for your input,
