Hello,
New to this side of the TY forums. Just picked up this '03 660 with only 50 hours on it and like 70 miles-so it reads.
It starts up on choke and takes a while to warm up. When I turn choke off, there is hesitation at the throttle, either misses(pops) chugs and dies, or I hit the throttle a little harder and it takes off flying. Is this Pilot Jet issues?? Has anybody experienced this before?? I can't imagine that the valves need adjusting with this low of hours.....
I have replaced the spark plug and had no difference in performance. At idle, it sometimes will also die on me as well.
Other Questions: Is there a way to bypass the Park and Neutral start only functions?? Maybe if it didn't die so much it wouldn't bother me. Also what type of Oil is everybody using in this machine??
Thanks for the Help!

You might try going up one size on the pilot jet. I had a 660 and that really helped with the cold start. It will start in gear if you hold in the rear brake. Besure and check your oil before each ride. That is very important on the 660.
I use either Yama Lube or Castrol 10-40

Ok, I will give that a try and see what happens with the pilot jet and post a reply to assist others.

there is also a post in here on how to modify the cv spring in the carb for better throttle response. that could be part of the problem as well.

So now I am wondering how things worked out.
