I just received the "updated" 04 locking collar for my 03 and without a picture or some detailed instruction its kinda difficult to figure it out .
Is there any one that can post a picture of a 04 so I can make heads or tails of it ? I ordered the threaded collar , locknut and a special washer.
Thanks. :?

coller

you have to remove the jack shaft and you mite as well change out the bearing as well. as you are already there the nut goes on the moter side there fore it must go on the shaft before it goes throut the bearing. i just used a pair of snap ring pliers to hold the coller while turning the nut tite. and the washer goes on the shaft as spacer for the clutch with the resese faceing in at the bearing. then just check the off set.

New to the Rx1 game been riding doo's is there something wrong with the 03's Thanks

Not really, My sled has 8600 miles on it and I have never had a problem with the stock collar . I just wanted to update it to the 04 set up while I was replacing all the drive line bearings. ;)!

Red, Birdmans one of the lucky ones 8) quite a few of us have had issues where the collar comes loose and takes out the Jackshaft bearing and sometimes the jackshaft itself! If you pull the secondary and look at the collar it should be seated all the way into the bearing not sticking out at all. The 04 collar has a locking nut that goes on the engine side of the bearing and keeps the collar from popping out. First sign of it coming loose is a slight vibration when accelerating, when it goes it feels like a huge piece of ice got stuck in the tunnel. Severe damage can result from riding it in this condition. You have the whole summer might as well just replace it. If there was'nt an issue with it why did Yamaha change it on the 04's and 05's :ORC
