Last winter I bought a 2005 Vector with the intention of building a "mild-mod" sled. My plans include: Boost, 162x16 Maverick track, rider forward steering, exhaust, seat, Fox Floats and some light weight parts here and there.

Having read about the success people have had installing 153 Cat M7 skids into RX1s with 162 tracks, I went that direction. Well, after getting everything installed last night (7 tooth extroverts, track, skid, new drop brackets) I ran into a problem. I HAVE TOO MUCH TRACK AND NO MORE ADJUSTMENT. With feedback from a couple of TY Forum members (thanks Trxster and Johnny Rocket!!) I discovered the problem. The front suspension mount point is at least 2" if not 3" farther forward on this Vector chassis than on the RX1 chassis!

I will be tearing everything apart tonight and doing a set-back. The rear portion of my tunnel is beginning to look like swiss cheese!

I will post pictures and description of the finished product in the next few weeks. I just didn't want anyone to make the same assumption (mistake) that I have made!

I didn't know that. I'll be doing the same thing on a buddies coming up soon. Thanks for the heads up. Have you changed out the tunnel extension as well?

I put an MPI tunnel extension on - it also was for an RX1, but fit perfectly.

Wow.....it would be nice to somehow keep those rail tips up there closer to the drivers. For deep powder why not go with like the 9975M Challenger Extreme which is 156x16x2.5 or the 9941M Challenger which is 159x16x2.3? Just a thought. Course, I guess you already have your track and that would be a hassle huh? I would recommend anti-stab wheels up front with the setback and the 3.0 pitch. Cheap insurance!

Yeah, seems like for the new chassis the m7 162" skid might be just the ticket instead of the 153". The anti-stab issue is why I stuck with 2.5" pitch and stock 8" drivers.

Just in from the shop...

I set the skid back 2.5" and it is perfect. I don't think that you would get a 162 skid in there in the stock front holes. I considered it as an option.

I had already done the anti-stab wheels in front - I wanted to be safe no matter what.

My rail tips are now about 6" from the drivers - not too far in my opinion.

Again, picture of the finished product will be posted here in the next few weeks.

The blower arrives tomorrow - I might kiss the UPS man!

Yeah, haw. Then let the fun begin (I don't mean after kissing the ups man, I mean after getting the turbo).

Man.........what am I gonna do with you guys? Am I gonna have to turbo next? I'm like the only one without it now! I thought the peer pressure ended in college! You guys suck....... :)

Aaron

Well Aaron, when I come down to Bend this winter to ride with you...I'll have you ride the turbo and see what you think. Don't need weed to get permagrin any more:)

As fiscally irresponsible as it is - its a lot of fun!

I maintained compusure and did not molest the UPS guy. I can't wait to get home, unpack this thing and begin the install.

I went supercharger by the way.

I thought I was jones'n for snow to try all the new mods! You're gonna have sleepless nights bro!

Aaron

Well here I was just about ready to send another PM but it looks like you have found your problem. One other thing I was going to send you via PM was your center to center measurements. You said it was 31-3/4" when it should be 31-1/4" I don't know how much of a difference this will be, but it might be enough to through your alignment off. Good luck w/your supercharger install. Should be tons-o-fun.

J.
