05 Vector jackshaft bearing replacement

I've got about 3500 miles on the sled and have heard that its a good idea to replace the jackshaft bearing(s) at this mileage. Never done one before. I remember reading some good stuff on this site last year but can't remember the details. Dealer or do it myself??? Any words of wisdom greatly appreciated.

I have 9,000 miles on my Rage without any sign of problems.

I just noticed a thread here posted on Aug 27 that is similar to the stuff I remember from last year. I understand the maintenance of the bearings but was wondering if the bearings on the clutch side can be replaced without removing the chaincase??

Replacing bearings after 3500 miles??? sounds like somebody has way too much time on their hands. I've got an 05 Rage myself with 6k miles. Last night I popped the secondary and speedo off, carefully removed the seals on those two bearings and pumped em full of grease. Less than an Hour and I figure I'm good for a couple more years. Tonight I'm doing the same for the boggies. Took about a half hour to drop the suspension last night. I'll pop all the seals off fill em with a syringe full of general purpose grease and there too I'll be good for a couple of years.
I've got an MXZ500 with over 10k miles on it and all the bearings are original! Alittle grease goes a long way!

When I originally posted this question it came from all the other stuff I had read on this site; I did the same as you; popped the covers off the bearings. There was a little grit and a little rust so cleaned up and regreased; don't know if this would been an issue but for the effort I think that it is well worth the peace of mind. Oh yea; time is one thing I have alot of on my hands, it's great
