The bearing directly behind the secondary clutch.I removed the snap ring and should it pull out w/o removal of the cross shaft. I noticed the bearing sits on a stepped split coller? How do I remove this bearing and how does that stepped outer coller work thanks

Make sure you get that bearing from a dealer, it may look like a normal 6205 bearing but the inner race is tapered slightly. Yamaha has some special tools for that job but I have had customers do it without, just make sure your chaincase is together so your jackshaft is in the proper position. Shad

The bearing that came out is a nsk 6206? I picked up a skf 6206- 2rsj to replace.not a 6205?

Check out the inner race of the bearing that come off, its tapered to fit the threaded collar. It wont work a regular 6206rs bearing. Do what you wish. Shad

Appreciate your time guys. I am assume the tool is used to hold that tappered coller to lock the backing nut. I did put the chaincase together first and then the secoundary side. I am worried about the skf 6206-2rsj I installed. That is what came out of it, likely the wrong bearing installed by previous owner? Regardless looking at old inner race. I can tell the coller never seated across the full width of the race. I assume this may cause premature wear or a vibration. The reason I am replacing this bearing. I just installed a 174 camoplast. New bearings in chaincase and lower drive since. I have had a 3 day rides. Last weekend the sled made a grinding noise. Like a bearing eating itself. Shut sled off and rotated track in air and it made the binding noise. Pulled primary off at home and plastic seal off bearing. It looked good. Pulled the chaincase off w chain. Spun the shaft and no noise. When I pulled the bearing out behind the secoundary. I noticed grooving into the bulkhead. Something must of got between the bulkhead and upper cross shaft and jammed.I cannot find anything w a magnet. Also this was the one bearing not replaced at track swap.Should I pull this bearing out and replace it w the yamaha tappered. Would I be able to run it w no problems? Thanks MR FUSION and TT!!!!

For the time it takes and peace of mind I would. I have had customers try running the basic 6206 but always seem to come in with premature failure not very long after. It would seat better for sure on the tapered collar. Not a bearing you want failing in the mountains. Good that you did the left lower driver bearing, missed by many. Yamaha has a new plastic guard that goes over the collar on that bearing that helps keep the ice out, cheap insurance. Good luck man.
