Anyone have the part number for the apex oil filter. Cant seem to find it in the manuals. Is it a special apex part number or is it a general yamaha filter used on other motors, i.e. sport bikes, quads?
thanks
thanks

Actual Yamaha part # for my 2007 Attak GT oil filter is: 5GH-13440-20-00. It is in the owner's manual in the beginning few pages as I recall.
I'm sure it's the same for all years Apex's.
Good luck!

Supertech is Walmart's automotive store brand. Even at "Wally World", not all things are created equal.
On the left is an aftermarket Supertech oil filter for many late-model Subaru engines and various other vehicles. It is compared it to a cross-referenced FRAM PH9715 that has the same filter element as the Subaru OEM filter.
I don't use Fram on any equipment I run because I feel their quality is lacking. However, in this comparison Supertech Filters even make Fram look like a quality filter!
Comparisons like these are why I choose to be a bit more selective in choosing my oil filters.
It has a bad case of uneven pleats and excessive glue.

Very nice , can we see a comparison with a $15 yamaha filter now ?
I can honestly say ive never seen a Supertech filter "crushed " as the first pic shows . And by the looks of the pics it seems to be a much higher flow filter then the Fram does . I will still use the supertech because buying the most expensive " whatever it is " just to put your mind at ease is just foolish . Changing the oil and the filter regularly is the key ,not how much it costs you But dont let that stop you from coming up with these great comparison models theyre very interesting .
Oh and heres a pretty good read too , sorry i didnt do the work myself but these guys sound smarter then i know i am .

Maybe I'm over cautious, but I always use the best filter and oil I can buy for any application. Overkill, in this situation is better than the opposite.

Not trying to tell you what you should do, but, you should change it at the start of the following season. Condensation and stuff builds up over the summer and should be drained out. It has been written on here many, many times.catchmeifucan said:K&N 204, not sure of price, bought 4 about 3 years ago on ebay, change out at end of each season.

yeah i think its 50/50. on the other hand you have bad oil sitting in the engine all season long with contaminents etc, which probably isnt a big deal. I usually change my boat oil at the beginning of the season. I have read where it says change it at the beginning and where it says change it at the end. who knows! well its all done now. its really not that bad of a job as a few make it sound.
