This is for an '07 Attak...bone stock engine and airbox wise and on the stand in the garage. Aftere going through my pre-season maintenance, having the sled stripped down and put back together, it is now bogging on full throttle. Sled started up fine (one the fuel ciculated to the FI) and also idled fine during warm up. I give it some throttle, RPM's increase smoothly as they should. When I give it heavy throttle it bogs, really bad and will also backfire. This is only on heavy throttle. If I give it slow steady throttle, I will rev right up as it's supposed to. I checked the exaust gaskets which were all good, as they should be since they were changed towards the end of last season @ 2,500 miles, along with the left Y pipe. I thought it might be an airbox boot not on right, pulled off the airbox and reinstalled, all good there. Thought it might be an air leak at the airbox, so I sealed all the boots that go to the throttle body (inner and outter) with silicone. Still was bogging. Airbox is sealed tight around the perimeter and cover. Thought maybe bad plug/s. Put in a brand new set of CR10EK's (and used di-electric grease during assembly). Still have a bog when I pin the throttle. There is a black adjuster knob on the throttle body (left side, towards PTO) could I have hit that by mistake and put it out of adjustment? Is there an adjustment spec on that black knob? Can I just be running too rich and have to adjust at the instrument cluster (which I never changed from factory setting). Never had this problem before. Any ideas?

Try going out for a ride and running some fuel injector cleaner through it.

Secondly, this might be happening due to any clutching issues like maybe worn belt or misalignment. However, clutching doesnt directly link to backfiring...

The black adjuster knob is for idle speed and is not easily disturbed. Idle rpm should be within 100 rpm of 1500.

On the list of other things to check: make sure there is no crap in grille of airbox, make sure the throttle cable is working as it should and possibly disconnect the tors to see if that helps. If it is tors, dont leave it and fix what is actually wrong. Also, make sure before doing any pulls that the pto heat exchanger is warm to hot. A cold engine runs differently than a warm one.

Ran some Sea Foam through it already and also some RingFree, with the new gas that I added to get it going.

Primary cluch is off the sled so it is not under any load.

I started thinking TORS also, but would TORS affect it at any speed of hitting the throttle? I can get it smoothly up to 10k, as long as I dont pin the throttle. Maybe I'll try bypassing the TORS and see what happens.

If the black knob is just for idle adj, that is fine because the sled is idling right where it should be.

PS..no going for rides yet. No snow down my way.

Just checked in the in Diagnostic mode at the cluster and all Cylinders are set to "0" (I guess the range is -10 to +10), which I am sure 0 is factory default. That sound about right?

If it ran good last year when putting it away then leave it alone. Ride it with the sea foam in the tank. It will come out of it after the next tank of gas. Why are you revving it up to 10,000 without a clutch and no load? That is kind of hard on the rods. Everything will need to be hot so it doesn't hesitate. Just go out and put on the miles, it will be fine. Old gas, cold oil and engine will tend to do this right out of summer storage.

Thanks Knapp. maybe I'll do that (ride it) unless someone chimes in differently or maybe having experienced the same thing. I was just blipping it up around 10k...not really sitting keeping it revved. Just wanted to see if it will go through the power band (eliminate a TORS or TPS problem or something like that). Got it up to normal operating temp before doing doing anything but idle, anyhow....new fesh oil and filter also.

Maybe it'll be one of those things that gets worked out after I start riding, which I hope, considering I have travel to do any riding.
