07 Attak GT - Top GPS Speed on Groomed Trail - 98 MPH?

Was able to get 98 MPH (Accurate GPS reading) with my 07 Attak GT on a semi fresh groomed straight stretch of trail in the UP this weekend.

What are others experiencing? Does this sound typical?
Interested in accurate readings - not Dream Meter

Details:
07 Attak - New this season - now has 2400 miles on it
Bone Stock motor and gears
162 1.38" Accord Racing Studs (approx 1/4 penetration) - singles and doubles down the middle
USI X2 skis with 7.5 Shaper bars
Transfer rod at stock setting
Front coil springs softened to get A arms almost level
Rear electronic shock set at 2 bars
Cold morning conditions
Firm trail - slightly tracked but relatively smooth

I can tell you that part of your problem is the studs...that will cost you a few on top end. I'm not dissing your sled, but the Attak is heavy, too: 575 lbs if memory serves. So you're talking about 850+ lbs total. The more weight you have, you need exponentially more power to move the mass.

With that said...I think you should be getting a few more, but you're not going to be seeing 120 or anything.

If your spinning the right rpms I wouldnt worry too much about it. I fought with myself all year because my rtx wasnt pulling the same speeds as last year. Thing is that I got my rtx in march and imo thats the best time for high speeds when things crispy up at night. I have seen times were the same trail yields top end differences of up to 10mph in just a few hours. Try a plowed road or lake on the ice and you'll see upwards of 110+ on gps, Im sure of that. Dont get discouraged.
 
When my attak was stock on radar I was getting 112 on hard pack with 108 1.325 woody's.
 
actually the attack is around 600lbs while the apex gt is around 570ish..


Those are the speeds i see on my apex.. on a groomed trail.. or around 110 on the dreammeter

If i have a new belt and perfect hard pack smooth trail i get 115 out of the dreammeter (or 100mph GPS)

On bare road with a dusting of snow i have seen 124 on the dreammeter or (107 gps) but those are not typical trial conditons..
 
On my 04 Warrior, on Very Hard Pack fresh groom, 124 Dreammeter - 107 GPS. On my Apex LTX have seen 124 on the dreammeter, same conditions, not had the gps with me yet. This is on a private road that is groomed and long, long, long. (Stock, 6" carbides, not studded)
 
07 Attak GT on iced road with 1-2 inches snow on top... 129 on dreameter, and 118 on GPS

108 studs down middle, 8" woody's doolys
everything else stock
 
the Problem is the Steep attack Angle of the track. If you go run your sled on a Icey road or lake with little or no snow you will see bigger MPH.
 
Conditions is everything. Your toe on your skis matter too. I raced a buddy with the same sled as mine on a trail that was groomed one side. He beat me when I was on the groomed side and I beat him when he was on the groomed side. I have seen 130 mph on the dream meter before on a hard packed icy road before.
 
Even though i have a rtx instead of your gt I'll still give my results this year. Conditions are huge to these sleds top speed.On rock hard snow I've seen 122 on dreammeter, on any other conditions , loose snow or bumpy lakes, I'm lucky to see 108mph. So real world speeds I'm lucky to hit 100 on these conditions.I ride with a rev 600 ho and in loose conditions its really close, it just shows our sleds are affected much more than some others. His speeds rarely fluctuate much more than 3 or 4 mph depending on conditions. Suprisingly my rpms stay the same in all my runs, just conditions slowing me down. I believe the weight of the sled and the approach angle of track have a lot to do with it. If you look at a rev their track angle at front of skid is much more gradual than the yammis.Top speeds is really no big deal but i wouldnt challange anyone if the snow is at all soft. Hardpack like a rock only!
 
Saw 137 on dreameter 2-3 times on my 07 Attak GT on ice at the beginning of the year. 108 down the middle.

Most I have pulled on a groomed trail is 102 GPS, 06 Apex 23 tooth gear 192 Studs. 96-99 is normal. The highest I have ever seen is 108 GPS and that was on Ice with about an inch of snow. I have a post on here about that.
