I kinda sorta thought my 07 attak was a little leaner & meaner then my 06 Attak was & today I found out for sure it was! I allways ride with the same guys....800 & 1000 Doo,s. Went 100 miles on nicely groomed trails & drove the sleds very aggressively with a lot of WOT running! Anyway; last year my 06 Attak was allways close on fuel to these exact same doo,s. This year my 07 Attak was way better then these same sleds with no changes made. I got an unbelievable "19 MPG!!(Canadian gallon) riding with my buds. My best ever on my 06 Attak was 16 mpg. The 07 just feels better & quicker responding on the throttle & the pumps proved that something is different this year. Only change in my sled is I am running the Shockwave adjustable helix & sled was hitting 10,700 with stock primary weights. Somethings changed!!!!!

well when you figure it out let was know, there the same engine, what could they have done different, same injectors?

Hmmmmmmmmm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting report Turk.

Wonder if you got a one off or others will see the same.

Struck me funny last year why the mileage was as low as most reported.

I know clutching effects mileage, but then so does timming. If your getting that mileage know I wonder if it's going to get better in time, once it's broke in?

rtx 06 apex

Great to hear your getting great mpg turk my apex sucks around town but is a little better on long trips. I am wondring if somethings wrong with mine use lots of gas and never ride hard just around town any adjustments I can do?thanks for the advice years back maybe going to try ulmer setup in the primary and wonder I have stock setup in sec but have a team set up for my 03 how do you like teams stuff could you get it to run well? anyway have happy holidays and let me know how you like the skid change for 07 I myself cant wait to dump the mono ra skid too soft and it never could take a beaten irondog rtx out

The 07 Apex's are in exact tune as the 06's, Injection, timing (same brain box) and clutching. I rode my friend's 07 GT and thought the same thing, so i contacted my contact at Yamaha and asked this question. I was told they are exactly the same. Then i remembered that i had the injection richened up to get rid of the hesitation when it was breaking in and never set it back to stock. I took it in and had it set back and now it seem's to be a lot crisper on the stand but have not had a chance to ride it on snow yet. My best MPG last year was 15, I will bet it will be better now. kviper

Maybe i got a poor 06 & a good 07. The 07 seems way crisper &is definataley better on fuel. I ain,t gonna argue but will enjoy it. The team secondary uses a lot of secondary wrap. I never ever physically tested one so I don,t have a comment on it. Skid seems about the same with clip in mid position but never really had any bumps yet.

How do you like the Shockwave helix?? Have you played with it yet?

different spark box.no longer cdi

The shockwave helix is very very aggressive. I call bS on the mimimum angle of 44/36 cus to get rpm,s at 10,700 rpm I had to crank the adjuster allmost all the way in to start at the shallowest angle. It looks more like a stepped cut then a gradual tapering. What I mean is it looks like it goes right from 1 angle to another(8 degree spread) suddenly & it shifts like it. With stock primary weights it comes out at about 9800 & very very slowly climbs to 10,700 where I have it adjusted now. I should get some good drag racing feedback against my buds doo,s over the holidays.

Turk where are you riding groomed trails? One would think that you're running leaner with the increased crispness and improved economy. I'm surprised to hear this because one of the complaints last year was the lack of top end. It would get there quickly but then hit a wall, no finger walking. When I spoke with my dealer about this he said the reason for lack of speed at certain temperatures was the ECU had a narrow window to adjust fuel. He claims that Yamaha ENRICHENED the map this year which would mean less mpg. I'll be curious what others report as time goes by.

Western Manitoba has snow & everyone is grooming. The further north you go the better the snow gets. I am just comparing my 06 to my 07. I haven,t had a chance to get any top speed reading but last year with stock clutching I saw about 123 on the speedo.A lighter rider got same speed; same sled; same day; same track. I saw 117 with hh,s but was slightly underrevving(10,400 rpm). The stock weights could pull better top end at lower rpm,s. With aftermarket weights I had to get rpm,s higher to pull similar top speed.
