I am looking to oick up a 2008 FX Nytro this weekend and have heard mixed reviews. Here are the extras that come with it. --- Extra's are as follows: Trail tank 10.3 gal replacement fuel tank (factory is 7 gal), Artic Cat "Power Claw" 15x153x2.25 track, Sly Dog Powder Hound skis in camo blue/black/white w/skulls, MuffinWorks 8.5" Billet Handle Bar Risers and Yamaha Nytro Fuel Caddies (extra fuel cans 1.25gal each x2),Skinz Ultra-Q Muffler, Yamaha marginal snow wheel kit, Factory Yamaha Cover. It has 3500 miles and is in central maine. Please let me know what you guys think about this.

I went from a 2 stroke ski doo to a nytro for the sole purpose to add a turbo. I rode it maybe 4 times stock and I liked it. I will say you can feel the weight but it gets more manageable the more you get used to it. Im in NH so I assume we ride some of the same kid of terrain. I have a 121 extended to a 136, so a bit different but......

The trail tank is a plus, the Powder Claw track got good reviews from what I've heard, Powder hounds are great skis, and Skinz makes a pretty good muffler. I'd say you found a pretty well set up sled!

Stand right on top of the front shocks and look straight down, if the shock is not lined up in the middle of the upper a arm you will be replacing the sub frame.
Most are bent some worse than others

Great running sleds. a few problems with the stock sled were already taken care of with new track and larger tank. Great track by the way. I have a 163 PC and it made all the difference. Bar riser is a little high. You will need to pick up a steering relocator and shorten the riser. There are a lot of them out there. They move the handle bars up +2 and forward +2 and puts the handle bars in a more natural position. I went with OFT relocator and cant be happeir with the fit and finish.
would check if sub frame was updated or bent as sonds suggests . Most of the 08 have been updated since they were really weak if you hit something with one ski the wrong way. You can tell if it has been by looked to see if there is a bottom gusset plate between the lower tubes of the subframe under the lower ski mount location. Ball joints and bushing up front will need to be replaced if they have not already been after +3000. Go with the oilites from Ulmar Racing as 1973 suggested
it takes a while to get the stock suspension set up to work well. most have updated the rear skid with an aftermarket one because of weight saving and better performace. If the price is right i would say that is a pretty good sled and a a good start if you plan on modding it in the future

I've had an 08 since new. You will have the trail tank which is a must in my opinion. Upgrading the shocks on the 08 is also worth it in my opinion and I'd be surprised if your front ball joints and bushings have not already been replaced with the mileage on it.

I love the motor and convenience of a 4 stroke, and for the most part weight is not an issue. Fresh new deep light fluffy powder can be a drag when stopped and starting again if you have not circled and parked on your track. However these conditions are rare and a treat. Overall it performs well in powder conditions.

It is a bitch on side hills, better with the sway bar out or disconnected, but still a bitch. It's a very strong 600 cc class sled, but if all your friends have 800 two strokes you may find yourself lacking power.

In my opinion it's all about choosing the right sled for you. For those that are suited to a Nytro it is truly a great sled. If your not suited to it you won't be a happy sledder in my opinion.

Good luck with your decision.

Cheers
