This a bit of a long story and this my first Yami and first boosted sled. I have owned numerous sleds but this is new territory.
Was riding for about 5 hours Sunday (first ride on the nytro) about +5c set up snow. Sled pulled so hard I couldn't even think about looking at gauges as the snow was pretty set up. At the end of the day was turning donuts and tipped it over on its left side. Was on its side for about 40seconds before I could get it straighten out. Leaked out approx 700ml (3/4 quart). Got oil all over the belt and clutches. Cleaned it up as best I could. After that sled was definately coughing and not pulling full boost. Seemed to clear up a bit on the trail ride down. Was not smoking oil at all.
Next day up the trail (boulder) it was still coughing a bit but cleared up and was pulling hard throughout the day. Around noon was doing a few pulls working the sled somewhat hard then came down parked it in the shade as it was closer to +8c and not a breath of wind (behind turbo hill-whatever the elevation is there). Parked for close to 1/2 an hour. After lunch fired up the sled and within a sled length was coughing and sputtering. and after about 100 ft it bogged then idled down and finally quit. Hit the key and it would start (without touching the throttle )then cough and sputter and slowly loose RPMS then die. Did this a few times no improvement. Nothing on the main guage no codes no lights. MCX just comes with a boost gauge.
Pulled the panels off and had a look no leaks and nothing disconnected. Oil was full and lots of coolant. Pull the power lead off thinking it may reset something electronic?? Checked the hose coming to the mcx box nothing inside no water. After about 20 min fire it up and died again.........tried once more seem to be idling turned it around drove 100ft and seemed to running again?
Put the panels back on and headed closer to home. Once closer to the cabin did some testing and again it seemed to coughing at WOT and was pulling approx 13lbs boost instead of 15. Max I could seem rpms was 8000. Now when it was pulling harderI know it was hitting 15lbs and no idea what RPM because it was my first weekend and was pulling like an ape!
Once back to the cabin let it sit again for about 20 min or so and on the trail ride down seemed to be better but very hard to test. It would pull 15 lbs but could not see the RPMS but did "feel" like it was pulling hard. Again it was downhill most times and hard pack trail.
It really felt like it was starving for fuel, my guess was a blocked fuel filter or failing pump?
Good fuel 91 from shell with 4 gallons of AV fuel.
Could this all be from fouled plugs from tipping over the day before?
Did the sled get so heat soaked that it just needed time to cool off without any panels?
When the sled failed to start I was WTF do I even check?
I will post more as I think of it just looking for some advice for what to check and once I get a chance I will do some field runs and see what its pulling for boost and rpms.
mcx stage 1- purple primary with shockwave. 74 daltons in primary with b-w-b
Thanks

can you get your sled to start now? i know that there is a 10amp fuse that has gone on mine before and it is the fuel pump fuse.... and if your machine is running is it still only pulling 11-13 pounds of boost? instead of the 15 that it normally runs

It started about 20 min after the panels where off and I had the battery disconnected.
After the problem it was only pulling 11/13lbs and 8000rpms. However on the way down from the alpine it seemed to be improving but I did not have alot of time to test it after that. This week I will do some field runs.

AWSOME!~, i have the same thing purple epi spring set at 10 degree and 74 daloton weights with a shockwave helix.... my machine is only pulling 11-13 pounds and it is set to pull 16... i cant find anythign wrong, i have checked everythign for holes leaks , change all new clutch parts, belt, even put new exhaust for higher flow, new intake less pipe...
just not suer what is goin on... how ever mine has not stalled out or had any of the problems you have described

Any thoughts why it would even idle and choke itself off? Felt like the filter was restricted or fuel pump failing?
Also what makes it not pull full boost?
Plugs have anything to do with this after being on its side? Fouled?

hmmm well i have not seen a fouled plug since i started at yamaha two years ago.... when i roll my machine over it does that a min for it to want to start but it never seems like it chokes its self off.... my intake is above the seat and pionted away from the pipe, boost can be changed by a broken pipe or a crack in it, broke exhaust gasket, blocked off intake, or a line from the intercooler comes loose from the hose clamp, and of course the line to the back of the boost gauge maybe be loose or again a hole in the line

I have it snorkeled and turn out on exhaust.
Unless something melted when I was sitting still kind of strange it would just have an issue out of the blue?

Similar to problem I had in early Dec.
Sled wouldnt hardly start or hold idle less I gave it lotsa gas. Then it ran poorly all the way back to the truck.
Ended up being water in my RB3 main connector.
It was cleaned up and filled with dielectric grease.
No more problems.

Air filter covered in powder or iced up?

Snow was set up and very little snow on the hood. Air filter and hood where bare.
If I gave it more throttle initally if would fall on its face and most times just bog down and quit.
I am wondering more about vapor lock ......... fuel in the lines got heated up after sitting still after running quite hard.
It would explain a few of the problems but not the lack of boost later on.

yeah the mcx kits have a small oil run off tank and when the nytro gets layed on its side they drip oil out of the over flow line, most guys take the small black tube out of the stock air box and use it to funnel the over flow to the belly pan,

Lost a bit of oil the day before the problem and in the meantime had topped it up.
Hope that clears up what I was saying.
Found out it works better if there is a longer tube on the mini reservoir to prevent leakage while on its side or upside down.
I will give that a try.
