Hey guys I was hoping to get some advice on converting the track on my sled. It is a 2006 Apex Gt 121 inch and I want to put a 136 inch track on it and I have a few questions. First off will I lose top speed and if so how much. Will it corner the same or will it push in the corners. Do I have to change the gearing like yamaha did for the Attack. Also I have been looking at rail extension kits and does anybody recommend a good company. The last thing is do I have to add the tunnel extension as there seems to be a lot of room from the back of the track to the inside of the snow flap. Thanks for your help and I would like to here from Guys that have made the conversion.

Ok I'll see what I can answer for you. I have a '06 Apex and did the same conversion..I used a complete Muffin Works kit. Tunnel and rails extension. Excellent kit!!! I installed a 1.5" lug track. For the first year I left the clutching the same as stock...Sled ran well...I did buy a Ulmer clutch kit second year...and I did drop the top gear one tooth...it made for a quicker bottom to mid ...I added 5 psi to the front shocks and I had no push in corners..Larry

I did 136 conversion myself went from 121 ripsaw 1.25 to 136 ripsaw 1.25. I went out ran 121 top end(111 gps) went home changed track and went out to exact same spot and re ran for top end and didnt lose anything at all, I wanted to prove to myself what if anything I would lose. Ive never went back to a 121 since. If you go to a deeper track or a different brand say a cobra you will see a drop in top end but personally I rarely run up past 100, so my next track will probaply be a cobra.
Yes sled will push more with a 136 because you have more traction. I personally run powder pros and have no pushing issues and they turn like powersteering compared to the stock yamaha skis. Curves also turn easily. Powder pros are aggressive skis, the harder you ride the more you will love them, they do dart some in hard crusty snow and at slower speeds. Id run a duece bar for a yamaha ski and modify it to fit powder pros. This year I have a set of yamaha snow trackers mounted to them which I think is going to be best of both worlds.
Gear it the same as an attack unless you are boosted(supercharger or turbo) Cant go wrong with Ulmers clutching.
Tracks USA has nice rail extensions and there was someone on this site makeing some nice ones as well that tip up at the back slightly.
I like looks of the hartman tunnel extension but there rail extensions were no where near the quality of the tracks usa ones. There was also some one on this site makeing nice looking tunnel extensions too.
I believe the secondary spring is also different in the Attack/Ltx 136.they also have a 23 sprocket which you may want and need since your going to have more traction and weight..i am also doing a conversion but its a IQ 136 with a built shock set-up,installing a 23 sprocket and removing snow flap and see how it goes.IQ spins easier than a Mono so it should fly bottom-mid-and top with more transfer.i was going to extend my freshly beefed up Mono with Tracks USA kit, great deal and nice hardware, but got a smoking deal from my buddy with the IQ 136 instead..keeping the mono just incase.you should be fine without a tunnel extension.hammy said:Hey guys I was hoping to get some advice on converting the track on my sled. I helped my buddy stretch his 08 apex with a tracks USA kit. It went together really easily and looked better than stock when we were all done as the rear tunnel extension sits higher than the stock
