Hi all,

I have a 2000 Yahama Phazer 500 that doesn't want to throttle up, smoothly/if at all. It does start pretty normally and idle well.

After removing the mouse debris (sunflower seed shells) from the airbox and carb inlet, I took the carbs off and cleaned them. Removed all jets, used my "carb cleaning" wires etc. and carb cleaner spray (after removing any rubber bits). Put all back together and was thrilled to get it running. But I can't get it to throttle-up smoothly. Sounds like it's not getting enough fuel, quickly enough. Thanks for any suggestions - Here's a video & audio:

get the air box back on it and try again. these sleds do not like running without the stock air box. causes all kinds of issues.

also pull the fuel filter out the fill hole on the gas tank and make sure it has not fallen apart or is full of crud.

THANK YOU!!! I wondered, (after having the carbs off for the 7th time), if the airbox being out would make a difference. I'll put it back and go after the fuel filter!

Do you know if there's a Mikuni rebuild kit for these carbs, (Mikuni B38-32)? I noticed that the pilot jet on one carb had a bigger diameter hole running the length of the jet vs. the other one. I know the mains are different. I assume the larger port jets should be on the PTO side?? I might be better off just getting a kit with the exact spec'd parts... if there is such a kit. I ain't finding one.

Thank you,

Jay
