the 2003 clutch side jackshaft bearing is a press in cone type
and the 2004 has a updated threaded stye with a coller. i
know there is a whole update kit with jackshaft ,bearings everything.my question is can you buy the updated coller and bearing and use your 2003 shaft?

Yes, there is no issue with using the updated parts on the '03.

Great info on how to change the clutch side bearing. I think rookie is asking as I have an 03RX1 is the original shaft threaded to except the collar ( Nut) update or do you have to change to a newer jackshaft? I plan on checking mine out soon to check for ware on that bearing and would also like to know as mine does not have the updated collar (nut)

I understood his question, I guess I wasn't clear enough with my answer. The threaded part you are both asking about is not a part of the jackshaft, it is a part of the bearing keeper. There is no part of the jackshaft that is threaded (at least not in the area in question). Look a bit closer at the pictures I posted in the how-to, hopefully it will make sense to you...

I believe the bearing is one part #, and the nut/collar are seperate.
