i have been looking at getting a apex mtn for my first sled since i moved out west (california/tahoe area). i found a new leftover 2007 at a local dealer for $ 7999.00. what are the differences between the 2007 and the newer apex mtn. sleds. anything i need to look for or stay away from? is this a decent price? any upgrades to the newer ones that i can/need to do? any help would be appreciated.

There were really no major changes to the Apex Mtn - the ones I can think of are - handwarmers, rear rack, and std reverse. The handwarmers were updated as a recall to the 2006's, not sure when they changed the rear rack and added reverse as standard.
That pricing seems OK if you are set on a new sled - only worth it if you are getting a good warranty with it IMO. Used mtn apex's are going for cheap these days - as long as it was taken care of and serviced - you should be able to find one for $5k - a lot less than that new one.
If it was my money - I would buy a used Apex (you can almost get two of them) or look for a good deal on a Nytro instead.

I just bought a leftover 08 MTX for $7500 up here in WI but it might be a little different market in Cal.

i think that they are a little high for a nearly 5 year old model. i am not really interested in a used sled as i always worry about how they were cared for. a nytro is definately a option, just really liked the 4 cyl i had in my attak.
did the 2007 come with reverse std. and handwarmers?
i am looking for a mtn sled that i can still run on the trails and get in the deep stuff when i want. not looking to climb mountains all of the time.
