I'm looking at buying a 2007 Rs Vector and just wondering the good and bad experiences people have had with this sled. I've put 1000's of miles on Apex's, but have very little experience with the vector. The sled was very well looked after and is absolutley immaculate, but does have 4500 miles on it. What are some things to look for and what things should I be looking at replacing at this point? The price is right, so I don't mind doing some things to it.

Check the normal wear and tear items.... Slides, wheel, carbides etc... The cam chain adjusters are failing on a "FEW" sleds.... I've got 6000 miles on mine and some people have well over 10,000 miles without a problem... Dealer tells me that they start failing at 7,000 miles + .... It's a crap shoot I guess.. If it was wide spred yammie should cover it... Other than that I love mine.. I get from 17.5/21 mpg... Uses "0" oil between oil changes.. Sounds good... Oh yea.. The exhaust donuts go bad after high miles.... MM.

check ALL bearings, especially sealed jackshaft and driveshaft, also idler and bogies.
Oil tank can develop a crack at bottom rt, mounting flange.

My driveshaft bearing on the speedo side was pretty dry last after somewhere around 2500 miles. The cam chain tensioner issue is totally blown out of proportion IMO and is a non issue.

The Vector is a really nice and reliable sled. As far as the oil tank cracking, the same issue came up with the Nytro and IMO is caused by owners allowing the mounting bolts to work lose causing the tank to move around.

See page 5 of this board on oil tanks.
