2008 IRON DOG

WOW! 06RSRage

Thanks for the support!!

Kind of caught off gaurd to see my name here!

I'm Jeff, 1/2 of team #23
I will be picking up the first of our sleds today!! I got my Totallyamaha.com stickers yesterday and they will be the first one to be put on the new sled.

I also understand thee should be one or two more Yamaha teams entered soon.

We will be updating our site as we get closer to the big race!!

A link to the Irondog web site is in my sig.

I thought about getting in on this a couple years ago, but was told my sled was not aloud to run in this race. I had an 06 RTX at the time. Why isn't this big 4 banger allowed to compete? Just curious. Do you think it will ever change? I was real serious about getting on this a year or two ago, but I would want to do it with my sled.

Thanks...

In 2004 (I think as it might have been 2005) The Rx-1 took 3rd. (best finish for Yamaha in over 10 years) Since then there was a rule change that didn't allow the RX-1 compete in the pro class BUT you could have ran in the trail class. IMHO anyone that has never ridden in remote wilderness should do this once before racing the pro class! But other Yamaha sleds have been leagal to race, as last year there was only one team a Yamahas (my old irondog partner and my current irondog partner) they ran the 07 Nytro. These sleds were very fast and ran very well! Mark and Ron just had some rear suspension problems that caused them to have to scratch just after the half way point.
Since the 08 FX Nytro has a completely different skid THOSE problems may have been eliminated..

IF any one is serious about ever racing this race either pro or trail classes hit me up I'll tell you all I know! I have directly been envolved in the Irondog almost every year since 1994.

I'll be in touch......

I've always wanted to see Alaska...why not from the back of a flaming sled. lol

Good to see more Yamahas entering the race!

Did your skid problems involve the front arm? I cracked mine last season and planned to replace it with the reinforced front arm out of the '07 Apex RTX but the shock link was different (aluminum rather than steel) and not readily available to meet my time frame.

We had Apex torque arms, they split. Had the aluminum shock link, Ohlins with remote reservior, Titanium triple rate spring 90,110,190 Steel horns on the torque attach points to the rails ( Yamaha supplied ) Titanium cross shafts front and rear, plastic bushing throughout front and rear torque arms.

Wow, I don't see how you could have been set up better. What are the steel horns you are refering to?
