Hello everyone!
I have been riding my 2007 Phazer base model for the past year now and I found I wanted more power, reverse and a longer track..I took it to the dealership to get oil changed and whatnot and asked about getting a rad fan and they said to add one to a base model it would be over 1000$ to put in and I was blown away. I figured I would sell it and he said it blue booked for 3900 and he would give me 3200. I payed 5k for it last winter (wow did I get ripped off) So I figure the Nytro would be perfect..
I put my Phazer on an online classified add site and was asking 4600$ for it and I havn't recieved all that many emails.. Mostly people asking if it had reverse and to that I replied "no ".. It seemed as though its going to be hard to sell.
I was looking through sleds and came across a 2009 Yamaha Nyto MTX 153 and asked how much he wanted for it.. He said he wanted 9000$ for it, he just put a new skidplate, bumped, hindle exhaust in it. I figured since I was having so much trouble selling mine and he emailed me and said he would trade his nytro for my phazer+4000$..
Is this worth it? I was hoping to get 4500 out of my sled and would be shopping for a nytro. I have a few questions however.
-How would a MTX 153 handle on the trails? I usually ride about 50/50 trails and powder.
-Is it it a good deal?
-Does the hindle exhaust system for the nytro meet the average noise regulations?
-Would you take him up on this trade?
-It was about 200$ for me to get my phazer serviced.. How much more do you think a nytro would be?
-Is there much more maintenance in a nytro mtx compared to a phazer?
He lives about 4 hours away so I called and told him I'd be up tomorrow with my sled. His area has more snow and steeper hills but I want a nytro. I was wondering who is getting the deal and how would it handle?
thanks for your time!^

**Since you are riding 50/50 between the powder, I think you would have no problems with the 153". Depending on the lug size, you may wear more hyfax having it on the trails, but my XTX is fine in the trails and I am 90% trails. Look into the 2011 or excell wheels update if hyfax is an issue.
-Is it it a good deal?
**I would say not bad...but any deal can be better
Show up tomorrow, look over the sled, point out some things that are wrong/bad (even if you cant find any, say that it's not in as great of shape as you were expecting) and try and get it for 3000 cash, or 3500...depends how much fun you wanna have .
Dont forget to ask for the orginal muffler, and any original parts he may have.
-Does the hindle exhaust system for the nytro meet the average noise regulations?
**Shadow44 will chime in on this, he is the nytro hindle master (even though my brother welds every pipe that comes out of that shop, shadow knows more than me lol)...it depends if it has a 16" slip on or 20" full setup...
-Would you take him up on this trade?
**Nope, already have a 09 XTX. But coming from a phaser to a nytro, your arms are going to be happy holding on!
-It was about 200$ for me to get my phazer serviced.. How much more do you think a nytro would be?
**should be the same really...not sure, I do all my own. I'd say throw a extra hundred bucks on just to be safe.
-Is there much more maintenance in a nytro mtx compared to a phazer?
**Comparing the nytro to the phaser that was in my shop a few weeks back, I would say no. They are both equally as hard to work on, taking panels off/on. If anything I would say the nytro is easier!
Hope it helps..

Sounds like a decent trade. Try it you'll like it. Check the known problem areas out such as subframe, lower ball joints and any codes. If he has it all Hindle that's probably worth $1200. + right there. Depends what he's running for a can for noise. Good luck!

Go to a few dealerships in your area and see if they have any non-current MTX's for sale. I found a 2011 XTX for $9600. If you can find a newer MTX for around the same price, it will definitely help you negotiations with the owner of the 2009. Also, how many miles are on the 2009 MTX?
Hey guys! Just traded my phazer for the MTX. It looks like one beautiful sled!! Polished tunnel, skid plate, full hindle exhaust , red rear grab bar and bumped, a few decals, vents on the hood and only 2500KM on the sled and it's a 2009. I am sure happy with it, Hopefully he does okay with my Phazer. I've never been happier with a purchase in my life. Hopefully this sled holds up a long time.. He said he replaced the hyflax at the beginining of this year so hopefully that wont be an issue, it has ice scratchers on it too. Frame looked A-1, etc.
Any tips to keep the hyflax from wearing and the frame from bending ? Seems as those are the biggest issues with the 2009 Nytros.
It's going to take awhile to get used to the power and the longer track.. 121 -> 153 and going from 80hp - > 130+ (im not sure what the hindle system gives - it's sure loud)
Will add some pictures later..
All I we need now is snow! (and hopefully lots of it )

Edit: Do all MTXs have the tunnel cooler? is it a different reservoir or connected to the same one? I'm assuming the same? It's like 8:30 and just drove for 8 hours so I'm parking 'er for the night.

With regards to the Hindle exhaust meeting sound regulations...Beenba is right..depends on whether it's a 16" or 20" muffler....if you can shoot me a pic I can tell ya. If you do find it loud you can always slip in one of Hindle noise reducers. Congrats on the new buggy!
