2016-17 Apex Track Noise

Loose track will make more noise...and run slower and poss hit things it shouldn't on the XTX...run it tight to oem spec.

Drone? Apex has a drone? All I hear is motor and wind! Sweet!
Your my man.... I am the same way... Love the torque power smoothness a 4 cyl has..expecially this R1...

Drone only comes in 30 -40 mph not sure if you would be aware of it. LOL

My Venture has the, Drone. Funny just rode the Vector LTX this last weekend and don't remember the drone but I may have just gotten used to NOT riding at that speed. The worst is following someone who seems to unknowingly prefer that speed.

Cant answer the ? on the new APEXS for you.

My Warrior did not "drone" with the ZX2 suspension but did a little with the Pro-Action. I noticed a "Drone" with My Apex at 18 to 22mph coming into Pinnawa on Rock hard trails. Went away on the second day after a few inches of snow fell. I can hear the motor at 30 mph that may be the "drone" some speak of but its not loud or annoying. As I have said before helmets make a difference, my BVs2 is quieter then my first Cat helmet but about the same as the second one I bought and was riding on my Warrior with.

Now my old Cat Pantera 1000 had a "drone" at about 25 to 30 that you could feel in your chest. It also had a modded airbox so the carb resonance mixed with exhaust was loud. But worst was the track. Just new sliders made a huge decrease in volume. So when the "drone" got loud I knew it was time to change the sliders. My 11 Apex has less of the wheel under the slider height and the 12 lowered the wheels down. So maybe the 11 with less pressure on the track lugs going by make less drone, Sliders have 1,500 or so miles on them so when trails where rock hard with no snow to speak of they "droned" when the snow fell and the trails softened it went away.

The "drone" is a resonance or harmonic of usually more then one thing same way singers harmonize. I would speculate that if the three hole and the four hole have the drone then its probably the track wheels and the motor pulses hitting that sweet spot!

my 1997 et410 has the track drone now that it has a ripsaw on it. did not notice it with oe track. 09 phazer still has a bit of drone and it does not have a ripsaw.

Wrong. Track noise is inevitable but not this deafening howl. Yamaha makes a good overall sled and I am in the market for a new one but I will definitely not buy a sled with this drone noise. Was wondering if Yamaha addressed it with 2017 sleds. Some have the quiet tracks.
Anyone who cruises at low speeds with their machine will likely hate their ride with this dreadful "howl" from the tracl. I have been operating sleds for 40 years, both 2 and 4 strokes and this noise is awful.
My2016 VK has it.....noise is brutal...Yamaha should be embarrassed....I like my VK so I am still looking for for solution

well my et410 did not have noticable track noise with the oe yoko track on it. when i up graded to the ripsaw i noticed it over the motor at times. might just be how camoplast makes their tracks.
