My sled has been great !
I now have a newer track , new upper gears , new drive axle and bearings , new reverse actuator , new cross shaft on suspension , 1500 klms. on shock rebuild , 240 tune , am getting Apex like belt wear , new seat heater, new bogie wheels, new set of snowtrackers .
Also have a brand new still in the bag goggle pouch , and a well worn Sidewinder jacket !
No Warranty left. 12,000 klms. of smiles incurred !
Should I
A. Trade in for a new Sidewinder .
B. Get a wrap and pretend I am playing the BNG game .
C. reflash to the 240 SS .
D. 240 SS reflash and a wrap.
E. stay put with what I have .

I am in the same situation as you, have all the upgrades done, rebuilt all the shocks and running TD 290 tune this year and love the sled. She has over 10,000 miles on it now but still have warranty until 2021. I don't see any great advances I am missing out on with the newer winders but technically I am due for a new sled as I normally run them to 10,000. I think I am just going to keep the sled another year but not absolutely sure. Man, this is a great trail sled!

I have the same sled with 15,000kms and many mods and 270 Hurricane tune. Just picked up a 2019 SRX with 146kms on it for a steal!
Well, you could power up for the extra thrill, but it will cost a few bucks and time getting the clutching dialed in. Or just keep on riding as is if you have no complaints why change? My sled has been great !

The 240ss tune is very noticeable over stock and better on fuel if you're trying to conserve.
I actually did a 345 mile day trip on the 270ss tune this past season and took about a gallon less each fill compared to my brothers stock winder and we paced each other all day.

I should hook up with your Technical Department , as I love your thinking !I am in the same situation as you, have all the upgrades done, rebuilt all the shocks and running TD 290 tune this year and love the sled. The one big difference in our situations , aside from you having more juice , is the warranty .
You have one and I don't.
Does anyone know if I could of bought additional Yamaha Canada warranty beyond the original 3 years ?
Just like I didn't worry about bumping up my pension when I was in my 20's !

Are you aware if the difference between the regular 240 tune and the 240 SS is distinctly noticeable ?Well, you could power up for the extra thrill, but it will cost a few bucks and time getting the clutching dialed in. Or just keep on riding as is if you have no complaints why change?

I don't try to conserve , I try to create fun .
I am looking for the down low, ski lifting grunt like I had on my Apex.
I am not quite there , but am getting closer, with the 240 tune , without putting a lot of extra stress on all the components .
I have always thought that if I cruise with the turbo helping in the 5000 ish rpm range , that I am probably getting better mileage than if when the turbo is not helping in the 4000 ish rpm range , and going faster . Anyone collaborate with my theory ?
Additionally can I assume that for out of the hole ski lifting fun factor , there would be no noticeable difference between the 240 SS and the 270 SS tunes ?
Would the noticeable difference be later on at higher speeds , that requires higher octane gas and more component upgrades ?
Not sure this all makes sense .

I am in similar debate. Have done a ton of maintenance to mine and its been great for 11000kms. But no warranty left and its a 2019.
The cost, after trade in, would be $7100 all inc in canadian funds for a 2021 Tcat. I could keep all my mods.
I never know when is the key time to trade, IE getting most for trade-in vs cost of ownership.

Yes sledroll. I have had all the Hurricane tunes and then some being a tester for Dave. I will say there is a difference going from the 240R tune to the 240SS tune, but if you really want some pop go to the 270SS tunes which you will have no problem running on the most suspect gas. This will definitely require some new weights in the primary and I would recommend a helix and spring combo change in the secondary. it really wakes up the sled. I run the 300SS tune as long as I have decent gas and the sled just well, keeps you on your toes at all times trail riding.

Hi care to explain, why you had to replace your reverse actuator, was you having trouble getting it to back up once you hit the button,to activate reverse? Was a code activated? Was it SD 26 ? This is what my 2017 LTX-LE is now doing, when it is up to running temps, and has been out on trails, and i stop to try and turn around,by backing up and engage the reverse button,it throws a code and wont move,i have to shut off sled, wait a couple seconds, restart and reengage the reverse button, and most of the time it works, but not always. Woody,s told me it was my reverse actuator. My sled has been great !

It's not the popular choice , but my favorite after trying many is 45/33. Wouldn't mind trying a 46/32.

I'm thinking of trying something with a lower than 35 finish next year too. Was thinking 40/30 or 38/32, something along those lines. I'm gearing up so I was thinking a lower finish would be the ticket for long pulls. It's not the popular choice , but my favorite after trying many is 45/33. Wouldn't mind trying a 46/32.
