2010 yamaha fx Nytro xtx
bought a 2010 nytro xtx this fall. Put on around 350 miles/ no problems. Except handle grip heaters(error code 81). The other night went for ride with buddies and rolled it sideways off a 5' drop. Rolled onto right side, broke shutoff switch and bent throttle side handle bar. Bent handle bar back and started right up and finished riding another 50-60 miles for the night. Went out yesterday and within 15 miles blew a belt. I slowed down, turned sled around and got on it. Got up to around 45-50 and it shredded. So replaced belt and rode 40 mph home about 5 miles. Tonight just went out and got about 5 miles on it only going around 40. Trail opened up and so did I. Jumped on it and got to about 80 and shredded the belt. This time the strands got caught in helix with clutch compressed close. Had to cut threads and pry em out to open clutch back up. Put on new replacement belt and rode 40 mph home, 5 miles. Does anyone know what this could be? Could I have jarred something outta alignment when I rolled it. Please help its getting expensive. Lol

Your motor probably shifted and now the clutch is out of alignment. If you can't get it straight you might have to take it to a dealer.

I've been doing some reading here and another rider had same problem. After first belt broke it bent his belt/clutch cover. After he noticed he bent it back and hasn't had a belt problem since.
And I did notice before I went riding tonight it kinda looked like top of belt was worn a lil bit but didn't think anything of it. Gonna try tomorrow. Crossing my fingers and hoping that's all it is.

Check the metal belly pan protection below and aft of the secondary. If that gets bent slightly that can then be in the zone of travel for a belt ballooning out when letting off the gas. Also each belt blow might bend it for the worse causing it to happen sooner. Had this happen to a Vector one year during our Quebec tour.

Also remember if those cords get caught in you secondary you can cut the worst of them away put on the new belt and rev it up a bit. They will clear out when the clutch opens up.

Yes Yamadog, after messing with It 45 mins of cutting away and unraveling cords ended up putting new belt and letting it spin to get excess cords out. It worked. And my problem was the belt/clutch cover. It was bent from first belt blowing. Bent it back straight and rode about 60 hard miles, climbing hills, ditchbang and making my own trails. Not one problem. Hoping that's all it is.
