O.K., in my quest for an even better handling sled (it already outcorners an MXZ...my buddy had to admit that while digging his 700 out of a ditch he landed in while trying to keep up with me in a corner...) I was wondering if widening the front end would help, or hurt? Generally wider is better, but if it throws off the geometry, it sure wouldn't help the handling. I have seen several complete used stock mountain front suspensions go up for sale (all 4 arms and tie rods) for cheap money, and since one of my arms is bent, this would be a good time to upgrade. Would my stock shocks work with the wider mountain front suspension? The wider arms would put more force on them unless the arms mount the lower ends of the shocks further out. I would also think I would get a hair more travel with longer arms.
Yes? No? Leave it alone? Just curious. By the way, I do mostly "spirited trail riding" and long distance rides with my wife. I would be keeping my stock skis, or a set of aftermarket, but not mountain skis...I don't venture off trail much.
