2006 Apex RTX
This is a story of my 2 Apex's; same sled, completely different results. My first '06 ER I ordered the day after Yamaha introduced it. Although I loved the sled, it had alot of problems. I blew 2 chaincases, broke the suspension[ i weigh 165], cracked oil tank, cracked radiator, broken bulkhead, 3 catastophic bearing failures all of which a POL Fusion towed me home. Cracked headlight assembly, 2 tracks, MULTIPLE wheels, shorted electrical harness[fixed it at night in -10 weather] & other stuff too. Not to mention upgrades like ROCK's handwarmers[didn't even get warm before], BEEFED up suspension, HYGEAR shocks, PILOT ski's[ it darted soooo bad it scared friends], multiple clutch kits & accessories to stay even with friends sled. In the end I actually got it the way I liked it, but just didn't TRUST it. Just before riding in Feb. I sold it for $4800 with 7000 miles on it. I was actually thinking of getting a 2-smoke, but could'nt live with myself. 2 days later I found '07 GT with 4500 miles for $6200. Clean sled only oil changed & 192 studs. Original belt & hyfax. It was riding season so i decided to ride it the way it was. This sled RIPPED! Smoked friend's Apex from bottom to top. Saw 130 dream-o-meter on hard trail. The belt lasted 5000 miles. The hyfax made it 6200 MILES. Only 2 idler wheels delaminated @ 6000 miles. THAT"S IT!!!!! I even called original owner to check these stats. TWO idler wheels in 6200 miles. A ROSE is found. Granted last ride i pulled an ugly stud. New track & front bushings for me. I'll check donuts & routine clutches, but EXACT opposites. Pilot ski's to fix darting, but handwarmers work great! Can you believe 6200 miles on original hyfax?

It seems like the first year was a hit or miss. Me and my little bother pick up are sleds the same day from the same dealer. I still have my 06 RTX and it runs like a top. He had a lot of issue almost every ride we would have to fix something.

Yep looks like it was hit or miss. I had the 06 GT and loved it!! No problems, added lots of mods and it ripped! Had it for 4 years and sold it because I want to start a new mod project with the Nytros.... ;)!
