Wanted to get a discussion about take offs and landings from cornus's to big lips. Speeds and breaking in the air are key. I'd like to hear other's opinions on this. I've done my fair share of drops and launchs but takes time to perfect, needless to say i have replaced a few windshields and then the whiplash comes into effect at the end of day. Perkacet anyone?

I hav'nt tried any drops with the four stroke yet ,but i imagine your not going to want to let off the throttle to much unless your trying a front flip or something!

Bad landings...

I practiced all day with the rx1 on a step jump with a 30 foot gap last winter, nothin huge but lots of weight in the front brings it down quick, need to stay on the gas. When you break the thing nose dives really quikly.

It's a fine balance, with any sled! I always try to use both suspensions when I land, to make sure I don't bottom something out more than nesecary. If you're in deep powder, the landing can slow you down in a hurry, be prepared for that.

I would guess jumping an RX1 or Warrior would be like jumping a MachZ800 3X3? Can you say LAWN DART?hehe

I've talked with guys who've made the switch to 4stroke dirt bikes, and they had to learn quickly not to close the throttle on take off. They'd be eating dirt if they did  Have fun!

Jumping.

I do all kinds of drops and jumps both uphill and down, some of them pretty crazy. But not the 100ft variety,no I want to live to ride another day and have a spine! The RX-1 jumps very well once you no what to expect. Never chicken out going over a drop remember Yoda "Do or Do Not there is no Try" Releasing the throttle will cause the nose to drop quite quickly. You have to be very smooth with the throttle and brake. Doing super steep uphill jumps reqires a release of throttle, maybe an ounce or two of brake to make the machine even to the ground and back on the gas.You now the air is big when you have a weightless feeling , and then the freefall, cool.

That is so true, the throttle is your friend. I have the Turbo and this thing halls butt going up hills and I catch air at the top where I was having trouble making the hill before. I jumped last weekend and I let off about 15 yards from the top and my rear end kicked up when I crested the top, I flew along ways but felt as if I was going to endo! I have to get familiar with the speed difference of about 40 mph on the hill. I can't jump it like my SRX, the nose does come down in a hurry!

I'm no Blair Morgan wanabe but I like jumping the RX 1 off moguls and berms in gravel pits, or when I time them right while riding a powerline or gutted trail. I have jumped steep, short banks and found that too much throttle and you'll plant the snowflap. I've since learned to let off just before the crest. I have'nt nose dived yet but I'm pretty conservative.

The other gothca (got me rather) make sure your suspension can carry your weight. I've rolled off twice now from bottoming hard on the landings. Check out the pics I posted of ultimatewarrior and I (it's a bird...) he just doesn't know how to take a picture with a digital :p I took the same berm twice, the first time I had about twice the air time he had - he got my boot coming over the backrest as I rolled off throttle side  The second time I slowed it down and he caught me landing Well WHOOP-DEE-DOO  dang-it

Make sure the take off is good, because that is a lot of mass to be messing with in the air! Front to rear is manageable, but don't get a twist going.
