I applied to get the pre-approval and they denied me........ I couldn't believe it. I have good credit and actually have a healthy credit card through house hold bank already. Financing the sled won't be a problem through my bank or credit union but DAMN them, bastards, I'm still pissed! Really shocked, waiting to see what they say on the letter. Absolutely amazing what can happen some times. Thought I'd se if others have had issue's with them for some reason. My credit rating is great and I have very little debt.......DAMN , makes me mad just thinking about it! ![Die :die :die](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/die.gif)

I had no problems, but funny you should mention it. When I was in my late teens and early twenties, I found it impossible to get some credit cards and then some were easy. I don't know what else they use other than your credit score and income to debt ratio.

Make sure none of your credit cards has more than a 50% balance. If you carry any balances you should always strive for this. For every revolving account you that have more than a 50% balance, your credit score takes about an 18 point hit no matter how long you've had that account, or how well you've paid it. Pay your cards all down to below 50% and ask them to rerun it in 30-45 days. My business often causes me to run my cards high then pay them off. I did that exact thing last fall when I got the 0% deal for my GT after they initally declined me.

action jack is right on. I bought an 05 Roadstar warrior using yamaha credit and the limit was 16,000 and the bike was close to 12,000. I couldn't figure out why my credit rate took a dip, but my wifes stayed higher. Well, I did the Yami credit in my name only.
I had a crazy run in with Yam credit, I had a limit of 8k on the card that was 4yrs old and never used it, So I went to the dealer this past year thinking ok, no big deal he ran the card and ask the folks in the credit dept to raise it. they were all cool with that, but there was one condition. I had a Polaris card with a limit of 16k on it ( had to use it when I bought the wife a 4 wheeler and paid it off in 1 month) So Yamaha credit made me cancel that card and then gave me a 16 k limit on the Yam card, no big deal to me but I guess they don't want you riding anything else...

Throttl Jockey, There is now way Yamaha could make you close another credit card. Did Yamaha recommend you close some of your cards? If they did indeed make you close your account with Polaris in order to get Yamaha credit, this is grounds for a suit from Polaris... if they found out.

THX guys
"Action Jack" , I will do this and then have it re ran in the fall before using my line of credit through the Credit union. I'm still pissed/shocked about this! I can get anything I want at anytime with my credit ,....BUT a Yamaha card....LMAO.Almost makes me want to go to Skidoo or Polaris out of spite...... I do have 2 cards that are around the 50% mark perhaps that's why???? One is like 50% exactly and the other is maybe 65% , I guess this makes since, but when your debt to income ratio is lower than 90% of the US you'd think it wouldn't be a problem. I don't quite make six figures but I aint no broke caucation (is thst better)...LOL
THX again everyone I appreciate the encouragement! ![Banghead :o| :o|](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/banghead.gif)

YES.... THAT IS WHAT I HAD TO DO.... MY Dealer was even like ("WTF") I had to talk to the young lady on the phone to verify who i was and then she tells me I have to close my polaris account in order to get more credit on the Yam card. I have one other credit card with a minimal amount on that. I was kinda shocked, but figured oh well, If i ever need a polaris card again I'll just go get one....

Wow...That would be like MBNA telling you to close your Chase account before they will approve an account. Hey, if you're not using the Polaris account does it really matter???? Not really.

Financial institutions add up all your available credit and calculate what your payments could be if you maxed out everything
I doubt it matterd that it was Polaris.
Actually pretty good of them to give you a way to get it approved.
Most would just say no.
