I will apologize in advance if this has been beaten to death. But I have used the search function and not found the thread that I know we have talked about this.

I am currently shopping for a new Apex since 2015 is getting us nothing more than BNG in the Apex line. What differences are there in the 2011-2015 model years? I am still finding a number of brand new 2011 XTX and SE models on showrooms! I would consider one of these if I am not missing out on too much.

Thanks for the help and advice guys as this is my first new Yamaha purchase since spring ordering my 2007 Phazer FX. I love my Apex GT, but I was given the green light by the Mrs. to buy a gift for myself for scoring a new job.

I'm hoping to buy this week, so share with me some great deals on Apex's in MN/ND if seen out there guys!

They are basically the same. I think the 2011`s seat is a touch lower and the ski bolts are in a different position. The 2014 and 2015 have tuner skis. The 2011 xtx has a slightly different skid. Powertrain is the same. All in all pretty much the same sled but 2011 is much cheaper and you can always put tuner skis on it.

That's good info to know. I could always swap in my Simmons skis, but the taller seat would be nice for sure.

I'm noticing that my 2007 seat is starting to squish more. I may have to lay off the donuts too! HA! This is a great time of year for sled shopping!

Also on the XTX skids, they changed the front wheel position on the skid.

from 11 - 12 there is quite a diffrence in the slide wear on the xtx model due to the skid change but still not perfect dupont slides is the answer on either one but the 12 will last longer on stock slides.

Thanks again guys for the help. I found a 2012 with less than 250 miles and warranty till the end of the year under $9K! I think that is a winner!!

I will have to read up on shock setup for the best ride.

This is just my opinion, but if you are coming off an Apex GT, give a 128" standard Apex a good look. The 128" mono simply rides way better!

Well, after the first 100 miles on my new '12 Apex XTX, I can honestly say that this machine is better in every way so far!

It is quite amazing how all the things people have said here are true. The power of the engine, EPS, traction of the 144", the bump bridging, all of it is amazing!

I will play with the shocks, but first impressions are really good, and that is coming from an Apex GT with HyGear revalved shocks all the way around.

I'm looking forward to racking up as many miles as possible before this season is over.

I have about 15,000 miles on 2 of my 07 Attak GT s . I love the sled, the ohlins performs great but my new ride is a 14 Apex XTX and I noticed that more than a few people recommend the Se over the XTX. I do not get it . The XTX 's ride is impressive. I still love my 07 but I love the ride of my XTX. I do not need the star set up .( I honestly do not want an uncoupled suspension ) I am a large guy , 6-2 240 plus gear so maybe that plays into it . Anyway, good luck with your new rocket, I mean sled.

Not sure I understand uncoupled sled vrs coupled, both mono and the 144 are coupled right, unless the 144 xtx is uncoupled,i have not looked close,so it does not have a transfer block mounted on a bar, like my 07 rtx ckc had? Ok at any rate,i am in the market for another apex, but my last couple apes's were gt's,one of my dealers is trying to sell me on the new 2014 apex xtx, saying it is faster top end than a 128 shortie, and corners as well thru the crappy bumpy tight twisty stuff,i don't believe him on either count, anyone ever run a 2014 shortie vrs a 2014 xtx for top end honors?

I heard the same that the XTX was faster. Honestly, I don't have the balls to open them up usually on the terrain that we ride. All I know is that with stock transfer settings, this thing is a wheelie machine! The power at any RPM is amazing compared to my GT. It is noticeable. The ride is good. Anyone saying it does not handle as well as a 121/128 has not ridden one. I just need to get my simmons skis mounted, or put on some Woody's Doolys and it will be set. It does not feel or handle like what I was expecting for a 144" skid. So I guess that is a good thing.

I was running on glazed over trails that I would have normally been wishing for studs on. And so far, I like the handling even without studs. So that is making me feel good to as it may be something I can take off my Haydays list for next fall.
